if my bike was purchased in california and i now need a new tank (*if* i can ever find one...), will it need to be the california model?
i know there's emissions stuff, but what is the difference?
thanks.

1 extra vent tube on the bottom with a 90 degree bend that routs to the emissions crap behind the battery. i removed all of mine with no problem. only problem i can see if you have any emmissions checks & cali requires it.

California doesn't inspect bikes, ever. They look at stuff coming in from out of state, but only to make sure it either meets California emissions standards or has more than 7500 miles on it. Also, if you try to register something that doesn't meet California standards and has fewer than 7500 miles on it, they blacklist your VIN and you can never register the vehicle in California ever. Anyhow, since bikes never get inspected, you can do whatever you want. The only people who maybe will look at your bike someday are cops, and they're only going to care if you've done something obvious like cut off your muffler. I doubt they would see the difference even if you tried to show it to them...
