Well, I'll just start out saying that I'm not the snallest guy here (260lbs.) and I've had problems bottoming out the front forks on really bumpy roads or under hard breaking. I decided to change my oil and saw that alot of you have been doing progressive springs and 15w oil. I thought about it and went to pick up some heavier oil and springs but my local shop had them in the computer as on back order.. I smell BS, anyhow, as Im looking at the oils I see the 30w and figured why not. I bought a Q of 30w and started home. On the way I noticed a new shop sprung up within the last year and decided to check it out.  I went in and talked to the guys there, pretty cool bunch, and told them my issue, they looked my springs up and found I could have them in a week, I decided to hold off and try the new oil first, however while I was there I picked up a fork oil gauge for $30. Has to be the best $30 I've spent. Made by Motion Pro, it has a metal tube dipstick on the end of the seringe and makes it possible to cheat the oil change. No need to remove the forks completely just pull the caps, suck out oil, dive the front end a few times while sucking out the rest, measure and refill, and install. Now I know you cant get all the fluid out and there may be some metal particles left in the bottom, but the bike only has 2000 miles on it so its all still pretty clean. Well I button everything up bounce the front a few times to bleed before a test drive, and run down the road. Hit about 60mph slam the brakes on and damn near did an indo, ABSOLUTELY NO BOTTOMING, and still factory soft ride. I still might trade the springs later but for now on my 90 mile round trip to work everyday I'm more concerned with comfort.
