I'm curious as to how well this would work- I have heard some say it's very difficult, and others say it works fine, but the horn button hits the fairing at full lock- but I've never actually seen a set on an F model. Any one ever done it or have pics of someone that has?

You need a set of banana bent tubes. I make em for $20 and shipping. I just bought steel now, and I will make these and other tubes etc in the next few days. When I am out of steel, I'd be out of these too.
Cool.

These tubes prevent the horn issue, or just make installation possible?

The Buddha

Its not just the horn, the bars hit the tank and the fairing as well as have the brake banjo hit the dash. The mod is to prevent all of those. It will fit without it.

Awesome. Appreciate the help.

Also- do you have any pics of what it looks like installed with the bent tubes?

The Buddha

I dont have an F, never did. I had a customer who I did this for. I cant get him to where I can take pics ... But the part will work perfectly, I dont sell stuff that doesn't, cos I have the loosest return policy on the planet.

You say banana bars...will these literally be shaped like a banana? I'd definitely be interested in a set for $20 +shipping, and I can take plenty of pictures for you on my F model...depending on how these bars look. I assume they're clip on style, but they're curved slightly to clear the controls/tank?

Mojonixon - You know this other saying .. .I dont give a crap ...

General - Anyway, order up, they come with the buddha satisfaction guarantee. I have the marks on my bender to get it exactly on the nose everytime.
I used to do this out of surplus and scraps in the past. Now the amount I need has gotten so big I have had to buy steel just to make these ... All Kat FE's need these but straight for 89-00 and post 01 is banana, on kat FE the banjo hits the dash something fierce.

sveach - thanks for offering to put up pics. I'd send you a set of the straight ones too so you have a comparison point. Put em on and click away. Then all those that come screaming for more will be met with my sarcastic laugh ... muhahahahahaha ....

So I just need to pick up a set of 89 clip ons, swap out the stock tubes for said bent ones, and I'm good to go?

The Buddha

Yes.
BTW people talk about beep beep, have you thought about what happens when the bars are turned all the way to the right ...
That's right, start button gets pressed. So in addition to denting your tank, you can also grind up your starter gears  :thumb:

You still have that set of clip ons for sale?

The Buddha

Oooooo .... very very close but if you pay for it before pronator does, he does not get his loaner. He knows what I am talking about. You dont worry, you get the whole kit and kaboodle in black powdercoat, fresly made banana bars (they not powdercoated though, a bit of paint can work better there, powder is too thick for them).
I do have it, I am fabbing up banana bars tommorow, pay up and you will get all of it completed by this weekend.
I'll PM you my paypal, dont make any mistakes there, wrong spelling's are other people.

I'll be happy to do both, take measurements, etc. Lots of pics are no problem either.

So now I'm confused. These banana bars aren't a replacement for the clipons? I was under the impression that they were. Can you elaborate?

The Buddha

The banana bars are just the tubes tp go in the 89 triples. You need the whole 89 triple assy. 5 pieces. Top plate, the 2 posts and 2 tubes as well as all the bolts and what not. The 2 tubes off the 89 or a Katana will clobber the tank and fairing on a 04+ GS. The brake banjo also hits the dash especially if you swap to any better grips. The banana bars are just the tubes for the 89 triples. Its not going to work without the other 3 pieces off an 89 triple assy.

Buddha you can can kiss my ass, you would sell your f%$king mother to someone on this site, how can a moderator peddle his crap and still remain objective? I dont think you can, it shows from your reply. I wanted to see a pic, and you come up with that crap. Still holding a grudge when a few of us gave you shaZam! about how the FEs need to be replaced. Save your remarks for the younger ones, I don t want to hear it.

Hey you moronixon ... dont buy it.
I dont care if you think I am objective or not. I dont go around telling anyone about the stuff they are selling or asking about doing. I just answer the Q if they ask it. Did you even read my reply ... I dont have a freaking F. Or is that not being objective.
In fact "the not putting a pic" is clearly indicative of dis-interest - AKA the exact opposite of "selling my mother " attitude you claim I have. You can save your remarks for the cognition impaired ... aka the morons just like you.
And what does being a Mod have anything to do with anything. You dont see me editing or meddling in other people's posts. I only edit my name and leave a note where I do and that has been very very rare.
BTW you forgot that my handle bars broke on that bike.
Cool.
