has anyone removed there tank decals on the F model?

I was wanting to remove my tank decals but they are under the clear coat on the tank.  I was just wondering if anyone has removed these decals without having to repaint the tank.

I doubt this is possible. I mean you can do it but you'll have rip off the clear coating, then remove the decals and then your best bet would be to repaint the whole tank.

why would you want to do it anyways? you don't like those decals?

I have a '92 and getting the decals of with a sandblaster, sander and wire wheel was a biotch...it would be difficult to remove without having to repaint the tank IMHO

Hot air gun + scraper does the trick - does not damage the paint if done carefully, but you obviously end up with spots w/o clear coat exactly resembling the decals. So I guess removing the decals w/o repainting is not an option.
