Windshields for an '08

I'm looking for a windshield for my new GS500, however it's not clear which will fit.  Some manufacturers don't seem to realize that the naked GS500 is still available past 2002.  Mine is a 2008.

I've been looking at various windshields from Givi (the A6xx and A7xx series, mostly universal) and the National Cycle F series (F15 or F16).  These also seem to be popular models discussed on this forum.

Does anyone have any experience with these on a 2008 GS500?  Are there any differences in bolt placement or brackets for the GS500 since 2002?  Any pointers would help.

Thanks in advance,
Scott

Doesn't sound like it.  F15 and F16 are for E model.  I'm partial to the F16, though I'm still without a shield.

It's not the F version, no fairings.  Do they still use the E new models?

I like the look of the F16 as well, but can't confirm that it will fit the bike because National Cycle only shows that it fits the GS500E up to 2002.  Is there any reason that it won't fit the 2008 year?

^^^^^
That's because Suzuki last imported the naked GS into USA in 2002.
it came back in 2004 with the F model => F16 windscreen not fittable of course.
But in other markets (such as Canada IIRC) both naked and faired lived on together. :thumb:
Moral: if you want to install a F16 screen on your naked '08, you'll be OK. :thumb:

Thanks simon79 for the thumbs up on getting the windshields to fit.  I was hoping that someone would have a more educated guess than I could give.

In the end I went for the F16 tall/tour shield and put in on this weekend.  It looks good, but I'm new to motorcycling and I was curious on how much of a difference it would make to my driving experience.  I headed straight for the highway and the short answer is that I like it a lot.

Thanks again.

I have the F-16 sport touring shield and maybe I have it angled wrong but it made it much worse for me. I get a loud buffeting coming up under my helmet. If I duck down it is great. I took it off pretty quickly.

Hi there,
I have the National Cycle F-15 touring shield and I like it a lot.
It's not too big, but not too small, and it looks nice in the tinted color on my bike.
It's the windshield in my avatar.

I didn't get the F-16 because I thought it would be too small.
I still think the National Cycle Plexifairing GT is the one to use because it offers more coverage while still retaining a sporty look, but the company doesn't make a mounting kit for the GS500. Others here think it would work, as do I, but I haven't heard of anyone mounting one of these yet.
Here's the GT:
