one of the needle valve are stuck I think due to corrosion. I have cleaned the carbs and I currently have the part setting in some penitrating oil  since last night but it wont budge. So, I am wondering if the P.O. knarled it up some?? The other one came out with out an issue. Has anyone experienced this and how did you get the needle valve w/o messing other things up? Thanks in advance, JIm :)

Probably just needs a lot of patience and a little gentle working. Work it a bit, let it soak again, work it a bit...

Good luck! Let us know how it turns out.

I was going to and use a paper clip and push it out from the other opening but I dont want to rough up the surface of the rubber end. This is where an ultersonic jewerly clean would come ion handy! Thanks for the advice and encouragement! -Ji m :)

I have had some get loose with penetrating oil ... and some of them get stuck pretty often ... I think if corrosion gets in there and makes a couple of bumps and valleys, it can stick more easy cos more crap can get in there and sit there easier.
But penetrating oil, and press it in and wait to have ti come back out ... and repeat.
Cool.

Well I have soaked it in lite oil after having it sit in wd40,. Tomorrow I willl try a different oil to see if that helps out. I think that maybe the P.O. may have been a rough neck with this when he cleaned it and re-assembeled it. The needle doesn't want to budge one bit so far. I am still considering using an ultrasonic jewerly cleaner. Well I will keep everyone upp to date as things progress.  Best Wishes -- JIM :)

You might want to try a strong penetrating oil. WD-40 is along those lines, but I'm thinking something like PB-Blaster (or similar).

The Buddha

Yes PB blaster, carb cleaner ... some nice penetrating cleaning stuff. but I feel your pain .. I had one set that didn't budge no matter what. Just set the floats with that still stuck.
If it comes loose, next year when you get to the floats, fix it. Else leave it be. It can be worked around.

So, Buddha your saying that if I can not get the needle valve to loosen up that I should leave it be, reassemble and take c are of it in the off season?? Thanks in advance, JIM :)

Yea ... it if frees itself up, then your flots will get off a bit, but till then ride it. I may never come free, the GS somehow works just fine with it stuck ... You can adjust to compensate if one gets freed up and other is stuck. A nighthawk ... if its stuck will have a fit ... and its got non adjustable floats. Grrr ...

Well folks I got the needl valve unstuck last night! I picked up an ultrasonic  jewerly cleaner and ran it in that for about 45 min. This helped slightly, a more powerful unit would most likely have worked better. Then I used some PB like stuff which helped slightly, and lasty I used carb cleaner which also helped slightly (I used it on the carbs that I cleaned and it got additional gunk off.)  The last procees that I used was gently prying the needle valve out of the seat, but it didn't go anywhere until I put a little heat on it from a $1 propane  lighter use for a grill. This heated up the rest of the gunk that was adhearing the valve to the bottom of the seat! Know all I am waiting for is the jets to arrive in the mail! -- Best wishes JIM :)
