Jetting w/ Jardine Pipe?

Does the Jardine pipe/header require as much jetting up as the other pipes?   I'm thinking of fitting one to my 1993 with 40/125's and K&N drop in.   My stock pipe is ok but it looks like dirt w/ rash and rust.   The end cap on the muffler is rusting through also.

Not sure what "as much jetting" refers to, but definitely you'll be rejetting if you make these mods. If your bike is stock now, you'll be rejetting if you just put in the K&N drop in filter by itself (or you should be).

The Jardine system is a header system with more air flow than your stock system, so you'll be rejetting for that too. Not sure exactly what jet sizes you'll need; there may be others here who can reply specifically who have the Jardine system.

I put in a K&N drop-in filter and a Supertrapp Stainless Internal silencer that is tunable on my stock pipes. I also drilled out the little baffle inside the pipe located just behind the collector. (yes, there is a mini-muffler inside the pipe as well) I bought the Dynojet kit for the GS500F which comes with 4 sets of mains, 1 pilot set and two adjustable needles. It's not as cheap as buying jets individually, but I figured (and hoped) these guys have done their homework for me using better diagnostic tools than I'd ever dream of. So far, things have worked out great.

At every stage, I've had to rejet. The first time was just when putting in the K&N filter with stock exhaust, but the second set of jets is specifically for that modificaion. When I put the Supertrapp on, it seemed to still run okay with 6 baffles in it and didn't appear to need a rejet, but I would have had to really monitor the plugs for leanness. However, when I added two more baffles (the more baffles you add, the lower the backpressure and louder the sound), I will now definitely have to rejet as it was bogging down noticeably on acceleration and popped a couple times coming out of an idle. The kit still has two stages I can use, so it's handy that way.

My point here is that what I did to modify the exhaust and muffler is probably on the conservative side compared to the Jardine header system. And get ready for some loudness as it's not a "tunable" system and reputedly is quite loud.

You've got a '93 so the Dynojet kit for that bike is a bit different and requires some drilling. Some guys on GSTwins seem to have not had good luck with Dynojet, but so far my experience has been good. Having a variety of jets at hand is a bonus if you're willing to shell out a few extra bucks.

thanks for the info.  Buddha do you have any 127.5's?   Loud pipe is good!  Quite loud is GREAT!
