Hi. My name is Will and i own a 05 GS500F. I recently had my engine rebuilt due to a blow by condition that resulted in my decision to my do some internal work oversized pistons,a size up from the factory ones.  I  currently have 400 miles on the new motor as i'm still breaking it in. I recently decided to take apart my carbs and clean them, From my understanding is due to emissions laws the bikes are tuned " lean" from the factory? I think with new larger displacement i'm feeling somewhat cheated My question is what size jets should i get ? If i live at sea level?

I don't think its going to be a huge difference with one-up on the pistons, but you'll need to custom tweak your carbs anyway.  Good luck.

According to this chart with a stock exhuast it should be like  20/60/135? And if i wish to upgrade to a jardine exhuast system i think i saw somewhere that the mains are 147? or does the jet size even matter if i bolt on a aftermarket exhuast as long as the jets are above the stock ones i should be fine?

The jet size makes a huge difference, especially the mains.  Even something as seemingly insignificant as a washer can mean the difference between sluggish acceleration and near perfection.

If you're going for a jardine, expect to do some tweaking.  The chart is only supposed to be a starting point.  If you go with something that you fab up yourself, expect to spend even more time tuning.

Just to make things clear on how important it is to have the correct jet size... if you use jets that are too small, but still larger than stock... your bike will be lean.  Running lean causes your engine to run hot and can lead to warping and burning things in your engine.

Start with the chart, and then go up or down from there.

I sell jet packs ... and you have to tell me what filter and pipe you're running. I dont believe anything uses a 135. And from there a jardine wont make it 147

60 is the stock mid, so dont have to buy that, we sometimes put 62.5 or 65 ... or run 60's with washers.

You have to say what setup ... I'll work out what jets from that.
