So my original plan was to keep bike till tax returns then give to the wifey and move up to a bigger bike.  Well didnt quite work out that way she has now slid the Gs up under the front of a semi and i am getting a 2006 Yamaha yzf600R.  I am actually pretty excited but cant hardly wait for my insurance to pay. So your thoughts on the Thundercat please........and i hope i am still welcome here cause their forum isnt half as good as ours here!

Thundercat ??? Never heard it called that ???

Thundercat was the name given to the YZF600 before it became the R6 but I think Thundercats are 1996 everything else was R6 after that but the model is still a YZF. :thumb:

Sure you're still welcome here!
All you have to do is re-badge it as a Suzuki and saw off two of the cylinders. I'm such a nice guy I'll overlook the extra valves. :flipoff:

Yeah the yzf600R is the thundercat and the yzf R6 is  the R6.  R6 has the lighter frame split seat more tuned for performance than the thundercat.

I am loving the thundercat logo.  will be easy to incorporate into a new paint scheme

My other ride is a FZR600, which I believe is the YZF's dad (and therfore, I guess, the R6's grandpa???).

I've found it to be a great machine, not as reliable or comfortable as the GS, but fast and agile.  And FUN.

As far as I know, the YZF fixes all the FZR's flaws.  (weak clutch/transmission, slightly sub-awesome brakes, weird 18" wheel, and other stuff)

I say you made a great choice.

I think if you do a search you will find some good stuff about the Thundercat but it may be under YZF600.  I found a pretty good thread by someone who made the move to the Thundercat from the GS.  From what I recall it was a far superior bike (from their perspective) in almost every way.  Good luck with the decision and ride safe(r):)

Also, let us (well, me) know how you like the new bike when you get it; I'm a fan of the bike.

Kewl! is it the same width at the axel as the 600R? My reason being that i would like to go to a 180 tire in the back and i think the stock rim will only hold a 160.  YZF 600R forum isnt as great as this one so i am haveing a hard time finding mods as easily as i did here for the GS.( feeew long sentence.) Alumminun is great though cause its lighter right? PM me with a price
