How do I break into my bike?

I accidentally forgot to put back on the thingy that makes your lock work for the trunk. (Put the ball in so when you turn it it moves the thing.) So how would I go about braking into the bike? I really need the trunk to keep my helmet while I am at school.

Thanks, Skeets

Pretty much a common error when tinkering with seat locks, don't worry. ;)
Search for "seat lock" and many results will turn up. ;)
Try this.
By the way then, I do not recommend keeping your helmet there provided it's for an half hour or so. A bike is not a scooter. :icon_mrgreen:

EDIT: you mean the OEM seat lock, right???? :oops:

Yes the OEM seat lock.. And why not keep it there for a long time?

Thieves (seat lock aren't hard to break into);
Stupid f%$kers playing nice tricks such as pouring liquids of various origin in there; :icon_rolleyes:
Said f%$kers, or careless road users, hitting your bike and making it fall over;
Birds' poop;
Rain;
... ;)
need I say more?

Of course those underseat hooks are useful and can come in very handy, but for said reasons I never leave my helmet there for a long time, unless in an emergency situation. You could get a nice and cheap helmet sack and bring it over with you. ;)

Just my two cents. :icon_mrgreen:

Yeah, I found out the hard way when it rained and my helmet smelled like mildew. It's not really a choice....It won't fit in my locker and it's hell on earth carrying from class to class.

I see :cry:
Another (a bit less cheap) solution could be tail rack & boot trunk.
But I know that - especially on a tiny bike as the GS is - they're really FUGLY, even though useful. :laugh:
Good luck with sorting the lock out. :)

I did this recently , i put my undertray on , and popped my seat on ..then what. damn it wont open ,  all i did was bend the seat up at the end , and poke a screw driver into where it knew it was , clicked it left , and it open , the seats return to there usual state

So I tried everything you guys said but to no avail. I now am in the process of taking the underbody thing off and then trying to get to it there. I got it off and then it started raining so I had to put a trash bag over the seat (just for assurance). I'll update in a couple of hours when my brother comes home.

Know that problem i used to commute to high school every day on my bike and finding places to put your gear is a fooking pain in the arse. If you wear proper full gear like i always did, boots, jackets, trousers and helmet and gloves then finding somewhere to stick it is hard. When i was in the lower years my form tutor used to look after it for me, just stick it in her class room pick it up at the end of the day because we didnt have lockers just cloakrooms for coats. People wouldn't often steal shaZam! like that, there wasnt alot of theft and when there was it was usually some scumbag mofo stealing an mp3 player out of someones bag at lunch. In the 6th form we had a common room which only 6th formers could go in, in that case i quite happily left my gear on the shelves and coat hooks, cos no one would steal stuff or mess it around. The only thing you had to be carefull of was people not respecting stuff, if it fell on the floor no one would pick it up and sometimes stuff would get chucked on top so you just had to keep an eye out every now and then.

I suggest asking one of your teachers or form tutor if you can leave it with them or arrange something with a member of staff which commutes on a bike to stick it in their classroom or in the staff room.

Dunno what school are like over there, but where i went to high school (village high school) people are pretty nice and sort things out for ya.

your school is different from mine. Anything not bolted down at my school is stolen. I once left my opened soda on the lunch table to go talk to a friend and I come back and it's in the hands of a classmate drunk.

I have a locker but they managed to make it half and inch too small. I wear my jacket and it fits fine. I live .4 miles from school so it's not that far (even though that's no excuse for no gear).

So for now I am locking it to the bike.
