oil deposits on valve

hey, ya'll.

when my motor blew (spun rod bearing) i found the blown cylinder had (what I think are) oil deposits on the intake valve. it doesnt seem like it'd be related, more a valve stem seal issue.

anyone seen this before/know of it?

(this isn't my head, it's langhorne047's) his looks to have the same thing on the right cylinder (left in picture).

Mine looked dry ... and a little ashy ... Mine though was stuck at the bottom of the stroke.
