Well, to be fair you did say "live wild bird" and when that comes up I don't think pet.  Exotic or not, a Macaw is not wild...

And we've long since given up the rule that you can't repeat old challenges.  Just that they can't be recent.  The original players here don't seem to participate so the list and OP don't get updated anymore.

As far as the ferris wheel goes, maybe it's something the USA or my area only really does but during the summer months we have traveling "carnivals" with rides that pop up somewhere new every weekend, and 9/10 there's a ferris wheel.
All one would have had to do was Google a nearby carnival and ride to it.

But let's please not make a huge thing over this.  The challenge wasn't completed in the span of a month, new challenge time, let's get after those sunsets!

I have to laugh because I just went to a big fair last Monday!!! Rode the ferris wheel too!!  :icon_lol:  :icon_lol:  :icon_lol:

Yeah live "wild" bird is what threw me. My neighbors have a very very loud bird (and also a motorcycle) lol... and I could have asked them...!! Didn't know it could be someone's pet     :dunno_black:

Sunsets... yes... ok back to that  8)

@watcher: OK, I gotta admit I haven't actually read all 260 pages of this thread.

@sbw & watcher: It was early, my brain was fried, I didn't expect everyone to chicken out of the original r90 challenge, I'm sorry I've already been crying myself to sleep every night since the complaints came in. I try to do my best I really do but you know like please find it in your hearts to forgive me. Anyway enough of me we have been challenged! (even if it is yet another bike and sunset shot)

I had in mind more the black silhouette and the skyline background really, just easier to do a silhouette at dawn or dusk

Well, it's a good challenge.  Just the R90 is so specific.  If it was broadened to "any vintage BMW bike" rather than straight up changed to "wild live bird" I think someone would have nabbed it in time.

This one's got a story attached to it! And I think I nailed what Janx requested.

OK, so the mountains are hella dangeresque at night, and although I was fine I encountered someone who low-sided!  Lucky for them, they weren't harmed too bad.  Squid, road rashed a little, some gravel in the arm, and maybe a tooth knocked out or a busted lip (was too dark to tell), I'm guessing he target fixated and hit gravel at a relatively low speed.  Lucky for him he wasn't banged up too bad, his bike didn't look totaled but it was leaking oil...
When I passed I saw his white what looked like a Ninja on the ground, and a Kawi Vulcan parked next to it with a man (geared up) who had just walked over to pick up the Ninja.  The rider was walking down the road in a rage, sun is fully behind the mountains by now, no riding gear so he's basically invisible, 15 miles from town, still about 5000 feet up.  I passed the whole situation and made a U-turn so I approached squid first. Asked is everything was ok and he just said "Yeah" and kept walking.  I said he better get off the road since he can't be seen but he ignored me.  The guy on the Vulcan, I'm assuming his dad, had better to say.
Said squid seems like he's not hurt bad, and that he was going to run home to the base of the mountain and come back with a trailer.
I asked if I could help at all and he requested if I could give squid a ride down since his Vulcan was a single seater.  I would have but I took the rear pegs off my Buell a few days ago.  So he asked to maybe try to calm down squid a little while he got the trailer.

I approached him again, got him to stop walking, checked out his injuries.  Seemed not too bad.  About 300 feet down was a parking lot trail-head with a bathroom, got him that far and sat him on a rock.  By now he seemed pretty calm, and used the sink to wash off a little.  Asked him a few times if he wanted me to stick around and he said no, he was fine, just needed to clear his head.  I didn't have any water to leave, unfortunately, and not wanting to be in danger myself I decided to make use of what little light was left and keep descending.
Stopped at a scenic outlook near the foot of the mountain to catch the city lights and saw a truck pulling a trailer headed back up.  I waved them down, it was Mr. Vulcan, told him where I left squid, wished them luck.  He thanked me and went on his way.  By now it's pitch black.

While taking in the sights I met a guy on a CBR600 F4i, got to chatting, he told me a few cool areas to ride, we exchanged numbers.  Spent way too long just looking over Tucson valley, and now I'm here at my PC.

Took a LOT of photos because I didn't know how my camera would handle the lighting, and most of them didn't come out too well.  Here are the winners, starting with my challenge submission, a shot of early sunset during the ascent, and just a shot of the valley.  Cell phone camera isn't the best but you get the idea.

OK, so next challenge:

You bike by a rust-bucket!  Could be a moldy old junkyard car, someone's project '52 Chevy, or that old man's Buick down the block that backfires every time he pulls into his house.
GO!

Hey Watcher, that top one is a very interesting take on an old concept, by keeping the bike small and blended into the mountains.

Thanks!  I actually didn't intend for the bike to be so distant, just when I was up closer the camera couldn't decide on what to focus on and I'd get a junky washed out lighting shot of the Buell with no detail in the background or I'd get decent background and an invisible bike.
So I skipped (yes literally) across the road, held the camera down at my waist, and got that one.  I think it came out just fine!

Its too bad that isn't the challenge now. My dad has a nice '77 BMW R75. Only 15 cc's off from the original R90 challenge lol.

@Watcher:

Woah, those pics are awesome! And your story is interesting as well, good on your for stopping to help. Hopefully the Ninja guy wears more gear from now on.

ShowBizWolf

Beautiful pics!!!

And what a story too wow... glad he was OK for the most part and hopefully he will remember what he did/what happened and become a better rider from it.

@qc, you can still take a picture and post it up...!! Wouldn't be the first time and there can never be too many pics in the Picture Game thread  :thumb:

Pic looks good to me... bonus point for good Samaritan actions! ...

Previous challenge pics can always be put up if it wasn't completed!

.... every mountain and situation is different, but personally I love a night run on my local mountain twisties. .  Very little traffic. Plus you get advance warning from headlight beams around the corner... I don't tear the road up... just try to make it a seamless series of corner transitions. .. often its a quicker run overall compared to blast&brake with daytime traffic!

I'd be happy to post a pic of my dad and I with our bikes. It'll make me look bad though, his bike is way cooler than mine  :icon_mrgreen:.

However, does it count since its and R75 and not an R90?

I think all of us just want to see it regardless.  But that's up to user11235813 if he says that'll complete his R90 challenge.

Honestly, this game doesn't have any "winners" since there's no points tally (it would be hard to score anyway since some challenges are obviously harder than others).  Everyone who posts a picture basically just gets a "participation award".  But it gets us out riding, we get to share a piece of our lives with the rest of the world, and we get to see other people's love of motorcycling in their part of the world.

So if you want to post it, post it!  Hell, I've submitted photos despite someone completing a challenge faster than me just because I took it and still wanted to share it!

Just don't let this turn into just another gallery, though, the emphasis here IS still the challenges.

Rust bucket moped frame count?? Bought a nice complete from a fella and he had this on his farm land forever. I've carried on the tradition and letting it fully rust. Will clean coat, coat the tank and I'll build a patina'd ped with it someday(look at that minty VIN tag!)

I'll wait for confirmation from Watcher before posting a new challenge

Good news! I have consulted with my superiors and and after a marathon all night sitting, I can confirm that the R75 will indeed be accepted. Please note this is a one time exception and should not be seen as a precedent for future challenges.

Duly noted. I'll post a pic as soon as I can lol.

Hehe I like the style of this game we have going. Before it was a drag enforcing the roughed out 'rules' we had. Now we're all on the same page, just get out, ride, be safe and enjoy!!

Next Challenge; Your bike with an awd(All Wheel Drive) car. Not a 4x4, but all time all wheel.. Hint hint; Subaru Coupes will get you an extra gold star on this challenge

My brother just bought a mazdaspeed6 that ought to qualify for this one. He just got back from Tail of the Dragon with it. Next time he's around, I'll try to snap a photo.
