So, i took the GS out today for a long ride because it was mildly nice up here in Mass and I wanted to get 1 good ride in before she's stripped down for the winter for upgrades.

I drove past my local motorcycle dealership and noticed they had a sign out front saying every weekend 50% off all accessories. So, even though it's Tuesday, I stopped in to check out what they had.

Out in the back they had a huge table full of all sorts of assorted parts and accessories labeled "make offer"... So, i started digging.

Low and behold, under a pile of all-weather pants, hand grips, and warmers and assorted tank pads was a pair of AlpineStar S-MX boots...

I looked inside, and they were 10.5... my size. So, I asked if they could look up the price of the boot new. 279.95... then I asked how much they were in the 'make offer' bin. They said that everything there had been knocked down 75% and then now it's to the point they just want to get rid of it...

So... I made the offer... 40 bucks.

Sold.

I win! I flipped them on, threw my sneakers in the bag and rode home and let me tell you these things are INSANELY nice!!! Tons of padding around the ankle and toes, plenty of flexibility all around. They are by-far so much better than a regular old work-boot or anything like that... they just mold right to my feet... That, and afterward I drove around for another hour or so and my feet NEVER got cold...

I am soooo stoked!

Woot!  :icon_mrgreen:

Thats an AWESOME deal.  beats my brand new $100 Sidi's for sure.   I will say that proper riding boots certainly are nice when you compare them to conventional work boots, which suck in comparison now.

Apparently these are the S-MX 3 boot, 2006 left-over. I kept trying to search for these boots and all I came up with was s-MX 5 and S-MX 4... 2007 and 2008 models.

Although I didn't get a great deal like Dan did, I got these boots/shoes for the my daily commute to work.  They are very functional and comfortable too  :thumb:

I bought a pair of Tourmaster Solution waterproof boots  a month or so ago and they are fantastic. Have kept me totally dry in some biblical downpours and are plenty warm with just normal athletic socks. Might be too warm come spring/summer but are brilliant for the fall/winter. Not very expensive either.

I don't know if these are waterproof or not... There's no tag that says goretex or thinsulate on them so I'm guessing not... I get caught in the rain maybe 3 times a year at most.. Half the time it's sprinkling when I leave the house so I'll just pack an extra set... or try waterproofing these.

Those likely aren't but unless you are out in a serious downpour you should be good to go. My only complaint with my Tourmaster boots is that when they are wet and I get onto a really smooth surface like the floor of my garage they provide virtually no grip. out on the road they are fine even at intersections with oil and stuff on the pavement.

today i was going to get some steel toe boots but they were all over $100 and none fit me right, so i when to my local motorcycle dealer and in a back corner hanging from the ceiling were some nice boots so i asked how much thinking that they would be $200 but to my amazement i got some ICON field Armour BOOTS for $109 reg $170 so i'm pretty pumped about that  :woohoo:
