So, ever since I got my GS I have never really cared for the paint and graphics. I have thought about painting it, or going the route of the streetfighter. I started going streetfighter and I was out in the garage pulling off the fairings, my wife came out and asked me what I was going to do with the removed plastics. I told her I would most likely eBay em.

She said it sounded like a waste and that I should re-paint the bike since we live the Pacific Northwest and the fairings would be missed given the weather. Didn't want to agree with her to her face, but I ended taking on the project of painting the bike myself. This is rattle can work. Duplicolor engine paint was used on the tank. I have been taking my time. Lots of clearcoat, wetsanding, and not rushing myself.

So here is where I started

And here is where I am now, still working on clearing the plastics, but I have the paint and new graphics on.

The graphic is a green with a subdued skull pattern.

I also have the graphic on the belly portion of the fairing

Next up are new grips, tank pad, and tinted windscreen.

The skull graphic is a vinyl sheet. The silver graphics are a Katana graphics kit I got from All Out Graphics. I just took the "X" out of the GSX logo.

I started the project in early October. I really took my time with the tank. Stripped it to bare metal and then went from there. On the plastics I just used a scuff pad and painted over them. Another thing slowing me down has been the weather. I am keeping it garaged with a space heater, but opening the door when painting. So I have been going one piece at a time to keep it as warm as possible while painting.

Looks sick dude.  Love custom looks for bikes. I would do it for my 07 F but I don't have any experience with quality painting/wetsanding etc and id probly just mess it up lol.

I used it because it say it is gas and oil resistant. I have not really gotten any fuel on the tank yet to really pass judgement. But I used the Duplicolor engine for the black and the clear. Used Duplicolor all across the board for all parts. Primer, color, and clear.

The graphic is grey under flourescent and street lights, it does change color at night. The green really comes out in natural light. I am also thinking of doing the vent screens like Bluehaze and a couple of other have done. I was thinking it would look good to try and match the vent screens to the green color in the graphic.
