Cool I thought it was just me that pushed half the miles.

congrats on another fun machine. that's one happy garage !

everything i read about the 650f is positive. sure, people will say it's 'heavy' or whatever, but comfort in traffic beats 189 horsepower every time !

keep us posted as to your impressions during break-in and stuff. nice to hear it's silky smooth with power. :)

enjoy !

Sounds like a fun ride.  Although, I don't think many in the motorcycle world understand it's purpose.  They can't seem to see beyond the 600 supersport bikes.  I'm rather fond of the 600 Katana.  This sounds like it might be even better.
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

Bingo!
When I bought my GS500F it was over in the clearance section of the store for a greatly reduced price, I couldn't understand how it could be passed over and not snagged up by somebody before me? The sales person told me he sold Gixxer 600's at the rate of about 5 or 6 to 1 compared to the GS500F. I love the GS500 because it reminds me of why I started riding street bikes in the first place, before I felt I had to move on to more power. Having gone all the way up to a KZ1000 and then back down to mid sized bikes again for the pure fun of it. 98% of the people you see on liter+ bikes can't ride them to the end of the bikes ability and are basically just Posers and are stroking their egos and over compensating for a small pee pee :dunno_white:

The GSX650F is pretty much in the same situation as a GS500...everyone will overlook it for any bike with an "R" in it's name, but when you get down to it in reality the GS500 and GSX650F are some of the most practical bikes out there for daily use, but of course everyone here already knows that! If you think it might be time to move on from the GS500? The GSX650F will feel just like home........(on steroids)    :thumb:

Repost from above: but this pretty much sums it up.. Can the GSX650F beat the R6?

Yes, the VORTEX RACING 41mm Kit is one of many choices.

Completely agreed.

The "curl up and die" R-bike riding position doesn't do too much for me.   :)

My SV is currently in transformation from "streetfighter" to "touring streetfighter".  The day after I bought it, the clipons went into the spare parts bin.  No way I was riding like that!

I've a bad case of the single and twin bug, so the next bike to the stable will likely be a DR-Z 400.  I have some hooliganism I need to work out of my system.    :icon_mrgreen:

Since I have owned it, the SV has been called:

A Buell
An Aprilia
A Ducati
And a WTF is that?

All by flip-flop sporting riders of supersports.   :icon_razz:

that's lust man, lust. someone lives nearby with one, and his grin is 3 feet wide as he goes by on it, there are dr-marks on curbs near the park. i'm betting it's him ;)

i'll second the notion of the liter bike crowd being posers also. keeping up on the straights is just over rated.

'wtf is that?' - lol, hell i get that on the gs. funny how if it isn't emblazened with vinyl declaring it 'xyz' motorcycle people don't know what the hell it is ;)

rock on, youtube is starting to fill up with gsx-f videos now. looks like a really fun ride.

I loved my GS, it was such a good choice to learn on. I have 200 miles on my Viffer and it's still a bit intimidating. I seriously considered an FZ6 but was going to get raped on insurance for $20 a month more than on my Interceptor- for a bike with a smaller cc'd engine and lower power output! I think having a bike with a 600cc displacement puts you into supersport land and the insurance companies automatically tag you as having squid like tendencies. Hopefully your 650 dodges that garbage...good looking bike. How is the transmission? does it feel like the GS's? I ask because that was one of the first things I noticed with my new bike was how light and slick-feeling the transmission was on my Honda. That and the 125 lbs extra weight, and double the horsepower.....

Washington State does not require insurance on M/C's, and my bike/bikes is/are paid for, so I'm not covering any banks interest in it either. Sometimes I get a clunk from 1st to 2nd if I get lazy...by 3000 miles when I switch to synthetic oil I should be golden. The VFR is a rock solid choice, Honda 90° V-4 engines are legendary! When I retire I mightl go with an ST1300

Congrats on the new ride! GSX650F has been getting great reviews for real world use-ability.

So....will a GSX650F rear wheel fit on the GS?    :icon_razz:     It looks like it has the same spoke design.

Do these fit on the GS500F? Any other parts required?
What are other clip-on products available for GS500F?

Thanks

if you have an f than you will mount them like this, if you got a e than they can go lower.

I dont understand how these will fit on a stock GS500F....remove stock handlebar....then attach these how?

Bluesmudge

There are many ways to do it. But somehow you need a place on the forks to clamp the clip-ons. You can do above or below the handle bar mount depending on the kind or riding position you want. You can drop the front end to make more room for the clip ons (careful changes steering geometry) or remove the handle bar mount.
I did a little of both, lowering a little and also getting rid of the handle bar mounting plate. Then a speedo/tach mounting plate had to be made because they usually attach to the handle bar plate.

shiznizbiz

back on topic....Nice bike.  I agree,  most of the public doesnt understand the purpose of the riding position of the reason poepl get bike like em.  they see comfort as a harley and fast as a super sport.  They see no grey.
Plutonian Death volvo is [NOT] your friend!

vorBH

Wow Bluesmudge that is a nice handlebar setup!    How do I do that? How much does it cost?    Where can I get all the parts?

I notice other people did 89' clipons....does this include the handlebar AND the plate? full setup?
Basically, would appreciate if someone could explain how to take your stock handlebar system off and put the clipons on...want to be aware of any possible complicated mods or what not

Budda...thats what I want to do....the clipons that you'll send to me will allow me to do this? They will include all the pieces for full handlebar system? Any necassary mods? (ie. lowering front end like Bluesmudge did?)
