after purchasing some items out in a rural area earlier tonight, i was proceeding home. ( been raining for two days now. and 1 this car refuses to hydroplane lol, ) and standing water in many places. anyhoo, i was ona road called heiskell rd

area of puddle lol his circled yes i was goinga  hair fast  :cookoo:  :nono: :nono: :nono:, about 65 at 4am i see a sign saying high water, so i start to go well shaZam!, and start to slow down, anyhoo no sooner i say well shaZam!, i hit the mother of all puddles, slows me from 60 ish to around 35. slings everything off front seat. not hard to do, this car is a retired cop car with all the comforts within, aka slipery seats lol, but car kept on going, didnt even affect rbakes hardly. which i thought was a sure thing to happen, cause water came up over the hood. but i puckered up something fierce though

Dude, you should have got the van

I hear you with the puddles though, the last time i drove to go deep see fishing it was pissing rain the entire way and i had quite a few experiences just like that, be careful and try not to enjoy the ponies to much  :icon_twisted:

i had a grand marquis for a couple years. it really wasn't ;)

did the same thing in about a 8" deep puddle. flying along a country road (ok, FLOATING ALONG) in the granny car, and hit the puddle. the car slowed from 65-70 to about 25 in what seemed like 3 feet. never hydroplaned, but would spin up the rear tires on any grade with two drops of rain.

I got a feeling a few weeks ago that you were going for a ride in a cop car...

I was right!

Does it still have cop markings?

I've been told that's a slow way to get around.  Driving along the road, everybody around you will be doing 5-10 under.   :)

You want sheer terror?  Try drifting an antique Mercedes diesel with 4 wheel drum brakes   That'll leave a mark..............damn long wheel base Jags don't do much better either..........

yamahonkawazuki

yeah terry that i know lol the owner of the car lot was terified , i redid teh brakes on teh merc. i cannot remember themodel, but it was about asold as i am, and the long jag xj6 i did that to was fun, like getting wild yet refined. i believe the long jags of that era were built upon hte crown vic platform IIRC. i know they were in bed with for for a while. not sure if stll the case

Ford bought Jag in 89, but left f the manufacturing process in Britain I'd imagine some parts comingled.  I wouldn't be at all surprised if the frame is the same in the normal length xj's as in the vics, but the VDP is freaking long!

Man I hope TaTa does something good with Jag and LR unlike the stupid xf shaZam! ford decided would look pretty :cookoo:

yamahonkawazuki

TaTa ? you mean that indian company? , heh speaking of cars i saw this chinese car today, called a "wildfire" a three wheeler, stupid high gas mileage. but licensed as an mc in most locations. but i have ( since the wreck) an inheerent phobia of small cars. which is ironic since my project car is small. ( the 88 rx7 vert , wiht its soon to be v8 transplant), i love teh long jags, like i said, its fun to get it to step out and get wild but in an elegant state, err dignified. as far as jags go, i like the mid to late seventies xjs v12. fun as all hell to drive, but is a vehicle which can and does test ones patience. as far as my p71 goes, ive got the light ( teardrop light) enroute from egay , but at 1/4 price due to misspelling. and the prisoner cage i located from craigslist. honestly not sure i have any legit need for it. other than perhaps stiffening up body or some shaZam!. , i have plans, if i dont leave tn before then, ive plans to run for constable  next election. ( about a year off), ( hte current oneis getting old, and his sons dont want it so i may have a good shot at it. but anyhoo around here, once in they get deputised, and can have emergency equipment onboard for official use right now im just adding things whichare legal to have i canhave a siren but only wiht the horn enabled, and the sirens non functional , hte lightbar no way inhell is that thing legal. so im not even looking at that. ive got one, but its in my party room, ( near teh wine cellar)

In the old days most Indian stuff well, it wont be the best or most effieicent around, but you will be able to open it and fix just what is wrong and re use it.
Like My water pump on my nissan died, it was leaking, and if it was off an indian car, I'd have been able to buy the O rings for it open it and replace them. Not have to swap the whole damn pump. Especially stuff that was designed and built in the 50's and 60's if they contunied to make it through the 90's it will be very good. Like we made Jawa and the enfield through the 90 for jawa and till now for the enfield. Metallurgy of the 00's and design that was meant to work with the metallurgy of 1950. Like the VW beetles from Brazil. Pretty decent engine cases etc etc. German in the 60's and 70's = south american 90's and 00's.
Cool.

You talking about the constable near Oak Ridge, who ran a radar trap on I-75?  What a racket!  Guy buys himself a mustang and lights, then gets himself elected "cunstible" so he has the right to write tickets.  :2guns: Damned revenuers!

I just put an engine in a civic last week from a dumbass with a cold air intake deciding to try and ford a big standing water over the road area- hydrolocked that bad dog. What a retard. I got paid though- replacing 2000 civic engines are a piece of cake! That is a $2700 oops for him. Just remember before you attempt the water crossing- it takes very little water in the engine to ruin it.

yamahonkawazuki

that i know, but weird thing was this sign was not 20 ft from water, at 4am, by the time i saw it, it  was too late, so i twas WTH BANZAI ! ! !
