Cannonball from Tampa posted that his bike didn't had a battery problem and didn't want to start at 52 degrees. I hopped on my GS to go home from work last night at 2300 hrs and it didn't want to start. It was about 45 degrees. I jumped it and vola, it lit right up. Got on it today with the temp about 65 and sure enough it lit right up. The battery was a few mls short but nothing too drastic. I guess these tropical bikes just aren't use to any temps that are under 40 degrees below 90 :dunno_white:.

Well, your oil will thicken as it gets colder out... If your battery is right on the borderline of being able to start your bike, it is possible that colder weather will just be too much for it...

Were in Fl are you it was 26 in Kissimme that time last night! We only got up to 48 yesterday boy riding in that sucked! But yeah our bikes are reptiles! I was talking about this in another thread earlier this week!

it was 18F here last night. i keep my bike under a cover with a 60W shop light on the headers. it fired up (without choke) on the first bump of the starter.

it's all about the oil temperature. keep it up around 60-70F and it will fire easily. let it dip down to <40F and it will play the horses patoot.

check your battery. :)

I'm in Homestead, second to last city before the Keys. I guess it could have been a touch under 45 but not much, we just had a light, patchy frost this morning. But hay it was cold to me and my bike. I've lived here my whole 47 years and my thermal curve is degrees below 90 F :icon_lol:. When I go to the mountians hunting I look like the little brother in the movie Chrismas Story, I'm layered and then some up there.

But in sunny PA....

I started mine up 2 nights ago, it was 16 out.  a little sluggish to turn over, but started up w/ about 5 sec of cranking (after giving my battery a little loving).  It'll be about 22 tomorrow morning when I take off for work.  I'll tolerate it in the morning, because it'll be near 50 when I leave for home  :woohoo:

I'm easy to please...

I had similar problems w/ my '93 GS. Whenever it was around 45 or below it would just sputter and die, but in S. Louisiana I only had trouble a one or two months out of the year. The rest of the year just like y'all it would start and run fine.

Tallahassee in the house! My GS has checked in and started right up at 22 degrees, but took a LOOOOOONG time to get running at temp.

By the way, an interesting thing...I finally saw another GS rider in Tally two weeks ago...in my own apartment complex!

I got mine checked out, dead battery is to blame, I have a new one charging now, should fix the problem. But yeah the weather lately has been crazy, had frost on the grass, cars, etc the past couple of mornings.
