how does paypal work

I have a pay pal account and ive bought stuff with it but i dont know how it works to get a payment from.  can soneone explain it to me a little bit?  thanks for any info

Your paypal account uses an E-mail address as ID for your account. If I need to send money to you I send it to your E-mail address and they add it to your paypal account. Before you can send $$$ you need to either link a bank account to your paypal account or transfer funds to your PayPal account by some other means. To recieve money, they send it to you and you tell PayPal to transfer the $$$ to the account you linked. I'm sure they'll send you a check if you don't have a bank account. If you don't have a bank account tied to your paypal account any money that gets sent to you sits there as a balance which you can use at any time. This has always worked well for me because I buy more with paypal than I sell so what little money I make  from ebay etc goes right back into fun stuff.

I use only randomly generated credit card numbers with a spending limit on my paypal account. I dont trust them enough to give them my actual credit card number or bank accout. they will send u a check for a couple bucks.

My credit card company offers the "ShopSafe" feature  which allows you to crate random credit card numbers. you pick the amount that can accessed and the expiration date. The number can only be accessed by one merchant and can be canceled at any time.   Since the merchant never has access to your actual credit card number it is much safe to use online.
