So ive been looking at getting a 250 ninja for my wife so i hop over to ninja250 to find out some info and the only info i found is that they are a bunch of a$$holes over there that dont realy help anyone.  Im so glad i got a gs500 for myself.  and for the wifes bike ill just have to ask general questions here and figure the rest out on my own.  They got pissed at one guy for asking if he can tint his windscreen so i posted about doing my windscreen and they justed my sh!t.

over the years i've joined quite a few forums a i can easily say that the people on gstwins are the nicest and most helpful of any forum i've joined. in fact, on most other forums it seems like all the people are asshats like you were saying.

I seen your posts there this morning, you're being kinda harsh on them. After-all they get hit with a lot of new or wannabe motorcyclists this time of the year. A lot of the new people will post/ask about doing mods to their bike instead of just riding/enjoying/maintaining it. Instead of searching the forum and looking in the FAQ, they'll just post their questions or comments. Then if they don't immediately get the answer they want they get all pissed off and upset. Also, there are other Ninja 250 forums out there, but that one is the best one around with the most information available with the best FAQ for the Ninja 250 and new motorcycling in general.

Also our GSTwin forum here is one of the most polite and helpful that I've been too.

how was i harsh?  they jump a guy for asking about tinting his windscreen.  then jump me for asking about a downloadable manual i dont think i was harsh ive been riding for over 10 yrs and they dont know.  all they know is im new to the ninja 250.  i dont know if you noticed my latest post there but after they jumped me and locked my first post they went back in and added a link on where i can get a manual.  they may be helpful if you kiss there a$$ and tell them how great they are but for a new comer to the forum they wont stick around long.  i feel bad for the new guys on that site  that really need the help and cant get it.

yeah i have seen that because back in the day when i was looking for answers and info to compare the gs500 and the ex500 i looked here and on the ninja forums.  Here i found links to articles and info comparing the two and peoples opinions either way.  There was mostly "GS500, man those things are jokes and peices of shaZam!, why don't you just get a bike and pedal!" kind of responses.  Ahh the beauty of lurking and searching.

What do you want to know about the Ninja 250?

Several of us have ridden or own them.

:D

That should get you started...  It is the supplement for the base manual.

There are many forums that are over run by commercial interests. Like a bunch of salespeople who also ride get on these forums. Then the whole forum turns into sheite.

Now I consider myself a salesman too, after all I sell tons of sheite including whole bikes. But there is a huge difference IMHO. So here is my rant for today -

In the world there are 2 kinds of people in how they make a living. One set makes a living by understanding things. One set makes a living by not understanding things.

Many many people need to understand things to be able to work on them and provide a value to society. Engineers, doctors, teachers by and large.

There is a whole class of people whose livelyhood depends on them not understanding things. Salesmen are a clear example. The experience I have had with "professional salesmen" can be summed up in this 1 example. He walks to an SV and the guy says, this is a great seller, it got aluminum perimeter frame, its this and that and what not. Then walk to a ninja 650 and he goes this also has been selling well, kawasaki and this and that. We ask him, so this is a new 07 huh. Yes, OK, it was 2 months ago, so so much for selling when 2 year old crap is still sitting on the floor. And, No mention of steel frame, crappy welding with tons of weld splatter (makes a GS500 look high end). Then my friend who is a welder (the brother of the guy I usually call "my welder") goes, is this frame steel ? Like he didn't know. Saleman - I dont know, I have to check. And get this, he does not move to go where he could find some literature to check. Ergo, he has to check, but he will not.

Truly understanding that its shitty quality welding and poor design (lots of nooks and crannies where it will get water and dirt and rust) is detrimental to his livelyhood. That actually is at the core of many problems in america.

In a way there is a way to guage the honesty of the salesman. walk into a delaer and say you wanna buy a Valkyrie Rune. If the guy goes, that is a bloody POS turkey that we've had sitting in our warehouse colelcting dust for years ... take his card and you can count him in. Else walk away.

Try this on a larger scale - none of the real estate agents know what happened before, during and after the great depression. Neither do motrgage brokers, financial company CEO's and bankers. Ask them about it, they simply say, that was so long ago, I dont know. Then ask them about what happened in Houston in the 80's even though they are old enough to know and remember, and they would usually evade the subject. Same with Sacramento/Los Angeles in the 90's. They are either liars (and that is the best case scenario) or they are truely clueless. Or, they make $ based on how many people they mislead, and knowing they are misleading people definetly hurts their bottom line, so they make lalalalala noises when you tell them what you know.

That problem is really at play in quite a few sites. Too many shills and not enough chumps is what I call it. Some sites get back from the brink too. Like the maxim site used to be over run with a few people selling parts and what not ... all the time, maybe they owned junkyards or stuff and in the 90's and what not had a lot of parts they had to clear out. But as their stock dwindled so did their numbers. It came back to the good zone. Savage site is similar to this, and some other good ones are around but by and large they are all run by commercial interest.
That buddha, he's the most commercial interest of them all, now pay up or I ban ya.

Cool.

The '01+ had those odd little 'winglets' on the seat near the tank that shove the thighs outward and make it harder for little folk to get a foot down.  I trimmed those off of my F.  Has she tried the first-gen nekkid?

Has she taken the MSF, come to think?

joshr08

MSF come on now right now i have her on a 87 DR125 that she is learning on. but seriously after i had her riding the 125 i told her to tkae the 500 and she wont even start it.  i keep telling her it rides better and easier then the little 125 does but she doesnt beleave me.

What about the new TU250X?  I was never impressed with the looks of the GZ250, but the TU is pretty sweet lookin'.

And she's getting a Ninja 250?

Seriously, I'd consider having her take the MSF.  It's a good way to get your bike legs under you with an almost-real-sized bike.  ;)

Listen to Lady Electra up there.

After a weekend on their crappy little 250's, I'd be surprised if she still wants one.  Besides, a $150 class is better than a $2K moped.

And, don't be frustrated with your wife.

murf425

I know absolutely nothing about them, so this could be a really dumb suggestion for all I know.  But a Google search for "250cc sport motorcycles" gave this:

http://www.cbxmanmotorcycles.com/united-motors-v2s-250r-sport-motorcycle.aspx

As for 500s, if she's afraid of your GS, she might be comfortable on a Blast.  It's smaller and less powerful.  Again, I know nothing about their reliability or anything...just the diminuitive size.

ive looked at those but the price is to high.  new style ninja is about 500 less and well known as a dependable machine.  altho now she said if she does better on the 125 she might think of getting a newer dual purpose bike.  i am guessing whatever i buy is what ill put her n or ill just ride it and the 500 and she can enjoy the view of the back of my helmet.  <<<  on the back of the bike that is.  dirty minded people :icon_lol:

I love the new styling on the 250's, one of my buddies just got one. Although it sounds like a push mower, it's a cool looking bike.
