Blinky is my 98 Nissan pain in the ass that has over time self installed some pretty freaking awesome things.  First off she leaves me stranded on the side of the road at least once a month, normally though after a few minutes of thinking, checking fuses, making sure the battery is still connected, beating things and intense words of encouragement she normally starts back up.

Now how much gas does blinky have, who knows i have to look in my little black book of gas mileage and do some math, but as i subtract in my head to see if i need gas the fuel guage bounces with glee, from almost full to almost empty and back again over and over.  Then there is the temperature guage, it seems to work while the truck is running but take the key out and watch as it joints in the bouncing with glee party and the odomoeter flashes on and off to the rhythm created by both.  You see this is the if you don't start me in four days i'll kill the battery dance, isn't it awesome.

Now the newest of new is the exploding the headlights in unison, it is like the grand finally to the dance, in one flash the filaments to whichever beams are on at the time, low beams last night, blow and its lights out, but no fear high beams work until the next dance ends.

So here's to you blinky, living up to your name and f%$king my wallet in the process [/rant]

You just have the wrong model Nissan!  My wife and I have had three Maximas -- a 1990, a 1995, and a 1996.  Total mileage while we have owned them -- 745,000 miles:o

I still daily drive the 1995 with 253,000.  I sold the 1990 when it had 287,000.  I sold the 1996 to my brother-in-law when it hit 205,000 (it's still going as well at over 250,000).

None of these Nissans had electrical problems (I did replace the alternator on the 1990 when the brushes wore out at 250,000).  None of them have had the valve covers open, ever.  Basic maintenance and that's it.

Sounds like Blinky has a poor connection somewhere on the instrument panel board (or connectors going to that board).  Intermittent electrical problems are frustrating as hell.

+1 for getting your money's worth out of crap boxes

we LOVE our crap boxes, change the oil regular, don't beat on em, and they just keep on going :D

My jag freakin chirps from the dash, seriously it sounds like an electronic cricket.  On the other hand, my long wheel base 4 door luxury sedan is faster than a Pontiac Solstice.  Ask me how I know.

cafeboy

Well the freaking Solstice is a dog of a 4 banger

Ok so I went to the dealer said "give me 2500 and that" and now i have a newer not busted truck, man i hate walking.  it is a dark blue 07 chevy 1500 with 14000m.  It has the 4.3, so not 8 but will do what i need/use a truck for.  as a bonus it is a stickshift, not a usual option on full size trucks.
