Longest trip you ever took on a GS with a passenger.-------- I went from Miami to lake Tahoe and back on a 1972 Honda CB-750 with a passenger back in the 70s, but of course that doesn't count.

I rode to Eugene and back 2 up in one day, 340+ miles of all freeway... It was a rough ride and to make it even more exciting the bike overheated and died twice at 90+mph....  I don't recommend that ride.
99' gs500e w/K&N drop in, 2 washers, Blue LED gauges
02' WRX way to much to list...

Was the oil fried, did it damage the engine, and how much combined weight are we talking about?

In June 2006 I went from home (Dover U.K.) to Prauge Cs with a lot of wandering around in Germany, and potted tours of Holland and Belgium on the way back plus a few Soccer games, the World Cup was on in Germany at the time. Can't recall the exact miles but it was about three thousand.
Great trip, weather too hot for comfort and some very lonely places in the rural former "East-Block" Europe.
The GS was great, and very comfortable and believe me comfort counts on trips like that.

The following year I did France/Spain on the bandit, similar miles, and in summer of 08 I toured the Franco-German Alsace region - a few miles less.

In Cricket the testicular guard, or Box, was introduced in 1874. The helmet was introduced in 1974. Is there a message??

Ottawa, Ontario to Williamsburg, VA following mostly US-11 instead of the interstates.  Oh, but that was 1-up. Never toured on the GS with a passenger. Only done day-trips  in the Blue mountains with passenger. Maybe 4-5 hours at a time. Never had any problems 1- or 2-up.

I need to get out there and go on a long trip on my GS. I've done longish day trips of 150 miles or so, but nothing longer... I think it might be about time for a road trip.

San Diego to Seattle and Back. It was about 1500 miles each way IIRC. Craziest day was Seattle to Santa Barbara in 1 day...1100 miles. Worst part of THAT day was the 120F heat wave in central california. Surprisingly bike did not overheat, although I burned a good quart of oil on the way down (none on the way up). I was running Rotella-T Synthetic 5W40, maybe that is what saved me...

Very impressive. When I used to live in San Diego, I'd drive home to Carmel quite often in my car and that was a long enough drive. I can't imagine doing Seattle to Santa Barbara in one day on a bike, that must have been one heck of a tiring day! I did once do the drive from Salinas to San Diego in just under 5 and a half hours in my roommate at the time's Corolla. That was fun...

You're doing better than I am. Before my girlfriend left me, I owned the GS for a full year and she sat on it once... Ok, perhaps two times, but never while it was in motion or even running...

All great stories Ya'll I enjoyed every one of them!

I did Lake Stevens, WA to San Jose, CA and back, about 1765 miles total. Was just me, but I had a packed tank bag, tail bag, and saddle bags. No problems at all with the bike.

The longest trip that I've ever done was last summer when the misses and I decided to pay Werase643 a visit in Winston Salem,NC. I live in Raleigh. Not really that long in the car but on the bike; oh, brother! It would ve been cool by myself because I'd done it before but the misses decided she wanted to come along(just to make sure I didnt have another misses stashed in WS,lol). Before I switched the bike over to '04 doppleganger status it was pretty comfortable but now not so much on long rides. Might have to repack the seat at some point.

Hi there,
My longest GS500 trip was round trip, Lancaster, PA to Madison, WI.  One thousand miles each way. Took two days to get there, stayed two days to visit, then rode home in two days.
Heaven on two wheels.
I've also ridden to Boston, MA round trip, which is about 400 miles each way. I did that one day each way.
:)

Best wishes,

Considering my bike hasn't run since I bought it, I've pushed it about .5 miles from the Home Depot parking lot I bought it in to my apartment down the street!

1up = Atlanta to Meridian MS the day I bought it, with a nail in the rear tire, and a rusty chain. then a week later: Meridian MS to Tampa FL around 700 miles (I broke it up over two days, gs did fine. I learned where the idle adjust screw was on this trip ;) )

2up = Tampa to somewhere down on the SE coast of Florida. Around 150-200 miles. I sat on the passenger section of the seat when we got home to realize HOW MUCH BETTER that section is than the operators :|

There is soooooo much to learn :)
