Three weeks ago, I eyeballed on carb synching and eliminated all the throttle reponse lag and back firing in the exhaust pipe.
Tonight, I carb sync'ed with a carb synchronizer. In the synchronizer, mercury only reached 2 inches high. Is this normal?
I still have a few backfiring going on and throttle reponse still has a lag.
What could be wrong?

I don't know if 2 inches is normal or not.  But that's not important.  What is important is that they rise to the same level.

I was told not to rev the engine too high for too long cause you may suck mercury into the engine.

Mercury into engine= extremely hazardous gases from tailpipe.  Maybe some engine damage.

Strange! When I throttle the engine, the mercury gets pushed down. Only at the moment that I release the throttle, the mercury would jump up and sink down again.
