so i got some woodcraft clip ons, and i'm gonna throw them on but i ran into a problem which i read about not too long ago somewhere but kinda read over. anyway, what do i do with the headlight mount bracket? it sits too close to the fork so there's not enough space to put the clip on in place.

someone help, i don't like my stock bars!   >:(

They are meant for a race bike.
Race bikes dont have headlight brackets, so your fault.

Anyway can you shove the tubes up into the upper triple and put it on top. All you lose is suspension travel ...

Cool.

lower your headlight bracket. if you have the stock ones get some smaller aftermarket headlight brackets. or just mount them above the triple they will be low enough trust me.

I dont know much about the naked version gs but did you try flipping the clamp so the tightening bolts face outward.  When I put my vortex clip-ons I switched the sides the clamps go on but since I have a 07 I had to keep the mounting bracket to keep the gauges so I lowered the front.  I was hesitant at first but now I kinda like it.  If I were you I would try mounting them on top first and ride for a bit and see how you like it.  In a week or two or after you order a smaller headlight bracket you can mount them how you want and feel the difference to find out which one you want.  You never know, the lower front end could be your calling.

Nice attitude...

Anyways, you can put them on top and decrease the trail of the bike making the bike handle different than stock(will turn in easier but is less stable). It will not change the travel of the suspension as long as it doesn't hit anything in full compression. I am pretty sure you have a good 2-3 inches of distance between the stanchions and the lower triple clamp under full compression.

The other option is to purchase aftermarket headlight tabs and mount it that. Those are typically much shorter(in length along the tube) than OEM ones. You can get them off ebay o I believe Dennis Kirk(denniskirk.com) has them.

ok a little update.....

the clip-ons are going to work, it's just a matter of creating a headlight bracket. a couple of you mentioned aftermarket ones and i did find a few but theres no way of knowing if they're a definite fit until i wait for them to come in the mail and test fitting it. then if they don't i have to send them back and find different ones......too long a process for me. so i'm thinking i can use the stock bracket and just shortening it then the headlight is still in the stock position and i'll still have something to mount the signals to.

here's the stock bracket, if i cut the top off and welded it back on lower there should be room there for the clip-on (sorry no photoshop on the new computer yet to make a crappy diagram of what i'm talking about)

here's the clip-ons attached for visual reference:

Ok so I got the brackets made and finished putting on the clipons, everything seems good except my front brake doesn't work now? When I squeeze the lever there's no pressure it feels like, any suggestions there?

thats kinda what i was thinking. i rode around a little and they do actually work but not nearly like they should. actually my oil light is on now, i changed the oil the other day and theres about 3 and 1/4 quarts in there but light is still on.

talk about one thing after another  :cookoo:

A Little dangerous dont ya think. I wouldnt be riding that around too much, you might end up as a black streak on the pavement like most squid do. Hold off on the celebrating until the job is done. It might just save your life.

Did you tilt your brake and clutch levers forward?  That could be why your trapping air in your brakes because the reservoir is turned to  forward and causing a loss of fluid to be sucked down to the brake.  It could look fine now but i would say when you stop the fluid goes forward and that's what makes you suck air in the brakes.

Canonball

the brakes are fine now. but my oil light is still on, how do you know when you have too much oil? i don't want to put too much in. what detects the oil level, could it be a bad sensor or somethin?
