Got mystery issue.

OK I'm at the end of my rope with this one.
Bought a kinda beat up GS. Had no compression on right side.
Replaced the rings
Adjusted Valves
Cleaned and  jetted carbs (per the wikkii) (Pod and aftermarket exhaust)
Bike fires right up but is only running on one cylinder (RH side)
LH side has good spark and I swapped the coils just in case.
Problem seems to be in the carbs, not getting fuel and the slide on the LH side isn't fluttering.
I've gone through the carbs 3 times and had an MC Mechanic buddy of mine go through it last night.
Sooooooooo............. I'm wondering if the carb is just shot? I tried swapping slides/caps etc..............

Sounds like maybe vacuum leak.  Try spraying starter fluid around carb and see if it momentarily revs up.  Make sure all your vacuum connectors are hooked up and in good shape.

I had a similar problem recently.  I had synched the carbs but didn't notice the vacuum hose to the petcock wasn't connected properly.  The motor would only run on the right cylinder since the left side carb butterfly was way out of sync.  Scratched my head for a couple days trying to figure it out. Reattched the vac hose and resynced.  Now runs great.

I did check for vacuum leaks and didn't find anything. Tried it with the petcock vacuum hooked up and with it plugged. I will have to look again at the sync linkage since it was kinda rigged up when I bought the bike.
Is there anyway the valves could cause an issue like this? I really think the carbs are right.

How's compression now after you changed the rings and adjusted the valves?
If you push up on the slide does it feel like you have some suction?  Do both slides feel the same?  If not, I'd pull the tops off the carbs and check to make sure the orings are there and also the diaphrams aren't torn. Let us know how it goes.

If the slide doesn't move, it is stuck or there is not sufficient vacuum.  I suppose valve problem could cause insufficient vacuum:  Intake not opening or exhaust not closing.

Sounds like a bent valve to me.  It won't close.  That's why you have no compression in that cylinder after replacing the rings.  BTW, carbs have nothing to do with compression.  You could do a compression check with the carbs off the bike.

ATL compression is about 115 for both cylinders.  I know thats low but they are the same, And O rings are there. Even swapped them out to make sure they were sealing.
bill I have compression now.
I really appreciate you guys input. I feel like it's something I am missing. Just need a little shove in the right direction.

I'm glad you have some compression now, but you're supposed to have at least 142 psi in at least one cylinder and no less than 28 psi less in the other.  Your engine is excessively worn even if you do get it running.  Time for a cylinder head rebuild I think.

About the compression, I just posted on another thread to make sure you hold the throttle wide open when you do the test. He had 110psi in both cylinders.  Redid the test and now it shows 158psi.   Is that how you did it?
