I just fired up my winterized GS500E 1999 after 4 month of hibernation. Know what? She fired up as it was yesdterday. Never lost a single PSI in both tires. Granted I keep her in top shape, gave it a proper winterizing (top off the tank with some Seafoam gas/oil treatment, put her on the blocks so the tires do not come in contact with the floor, sprayed her all over with some proper lubricant, changed the oil prior to storing her away for winter, trickle-charged the battery all winter, etc.) and still... Magic!  :icon_lol:

I had a brisk and joyful 5-mile ride just to make sure she is ready should I want to commute tomorrow (I may!). It's cold and snowy in New England in winter, and I am just happy she is as ready as I am with all that "old" carburation idea and other things "sooo 20th century"..

All my instincts and reflects seem to be intact when I hop on. Good sa'tuff!!

I dunno.  I think I'd still go for fuel injection if it was an option.  I do like the simplicity of air cooling though.

And I'm jealous.  I went for an early season ride a few weeks ago and dumped it.  Waiting for the money to fix it and get a new helmet.  Last weekend was torture.

Here's to proper winterization!

Even when I didn't winterize my bike what so ever, it would still fire up without too much fuss. You gotta love 'em!

Sorry to hear about your mishap. I was tempted to hop on for the quick test ride without my usual gear but I reasoned myself (AGATT!). It may seem like a quick test ride, but that is VERY dangerous because both you and your bike had a long time away from the road. You know what I mean.
