Sirius Satellite Radio Install on the GS

I used the kit that Sirius sells. Pretty simple install, and I think it looks pretty clean and mounts in an area where I can still get to everything on the left hand controls. I plugged it into my helmet speakers and took it out for a quick jaunt. Got up to 55mph and was still able to hear it while also being able to hear traffic around me.

In the pics it is being held in place by a wire tie, but I will be using heavy duty velcro for the finished install. This radio is from my truck, so using the velcro will allow me to move the radio to the vehicle I am in fairly easily. The wire you see across the tank is the speaker wire. The power wires are running along the edge of the frame and are hidden by the tank.

You can also get a glimpse of the Wolo horn I installed last night. Nice and loud.

cool radio!  :thumb:  The key you have in the ignition is cool. Did that key come like that?

Very cool. Can you read the screen while riding? Do you have trouble reading it in really bright sunlight? I only ask because I'm looking for a decent screen to use as part of a DIY digital gauge setup for the GS...

I got that key head off ebay. It requires you to cut a traditional key head off. So I went and had some spares made and cut the head off one of them. I find that the knob is easier to work when I have gloves on.

Overcast here today, so not sure how it will look under bright sunlight. But no problems at all seeing the screen when I took it for the test ride.

Okay I soooo want that Key Fob. Do you know what you had to put in on Ebay to find it? I want it I want it I want it! I got a guy that makes me new keys for $4. This way I don't have my key ring scratching my bars. Can you do close up pics of it?

Sorry about thread jacking. The radio looks a little cramped. I just use my Ipod shuffle clipped onto my jacket or my Ipod classic in the tank bag where I can see the face.

Cool,
Mary

I went back through paypal records and got the sellers id. I checked and the seller has no listings on ebay right now. I got the key holder in October of 08. I sent them a note and told them others were interested in the product. I will let you know as soon as I hear back from them. Listing was for a Suzuki Keychain/holder.

Thanks sooo much for the info Grommet you rock! As do all of the GsTwin members.

Does the wire on the left impeed how you grip the handlebar. Seems like it would stick out and poke your hand.
