I am just toying with the idea right now, but I am considering upgrading to a used Bandit 600. I know the basics, 4-cylinder based on the Katana, oil-cooled, about 50% more power and torque than the GS500, but also weighs about 60 lbs more. I am guessing that it feels like a little more "touring" than "sport" when compared to the GS500, but not by much. That's okay with me, because this will not be only motorcycle, but it will the one I ride most often. I like the idea that i fits the definition of a UJM. I want a UJM  :D

Any of you guys have any riding comparisons to offer?

I was looking at the gsx650F. Looks like my bike all grown up. Haven't really heard anyone talk about it though. I'm fine with my Flick for now anyways!

Did I or didn't I ? Heck I can't remember. I did study one heavily for a few minutes (is that studying ?) at a group ride. The owner, like most, said he would sell if the right price came along. I wasn't buying, more like looking.

Long story short, I don't remember. The bandit isn't quite as widely known as the gs500 or ex500. Have you considered the ex500 ? While it may look like more of a supersport, it is not. It has a radiator, decent wind protection, and a huge following much like the gs. Some bags and a map and you're set. Check out ex-500.com for good information.

ps - the owner of  the bandit said it always felt a little heavy. go figure.
