Anybody need a galfer front stainless line?  I don't need it anymore.

It's off of my 1990 E and less than a year old.  It looks perfect other than some yellowing of the vinyl coating where the rubber grommets attach the line to the bike.  When mounted, it's covered by the mounts.  It's 30 inches long.  It was the perfect length when I had the stock setup, a tad long with 89 clipons and way too long with my clipons under the triple so I had a new line made.  I know for sure that it fits all years master cylinders and calipers, but I don't know what years the length fits...well, besides 1990.  You'll either need to reuse your stock crush washers or spend a couple bucks on new ones.

This part is free, and I'll pay shipping too.  It goes to whoever gives me the best reason they should have it.

My wife will be deciding who has the best story.  The winner will be announced tomorrow at 9pm eastern standard time.

I'm 18 and need every cent I can get. A SS front brake line will save me from ever having to replace it again, stop a little better, and give me another reason to bleed my brakes which somehow got an air bubble inside them during my recent crash.

SS brake lines are something I'll always want, but have a hard time justifying. But if I got one for free....

Great.  My lines too are original off of a '92.  I'm currently a senior in college and moving off to Goergia from Ohio next year for graduate school in mathematics.

Not only would this make a wonderful graduation present  :icon_mrgreen: but I could trust my brakes that much more when riding to class!!

OK you're making me look bad ... last year I sold these for 40 bucks, about what it will cost me to get the nascar clowns in my neighborhood to make up a few ...
Anyway ... you're on a mission ... not sure what it is, but giving away stuff is some people's idea of fun, I mean doctors go work in africa ... and buddha drinks beer ... whatever gets you high ...
Cool.

I got where I am today because alot of people helped me out when times were bad.  They didn't have to but they did anyway.

I haven't forgotten that and just trying pay it back/forward/whatever.  That, and it's fun!

Well, here it goes.
I recently found my 1992 GS500 after years of earning my parents respect and saving money through summer jobs, working during breaks, and birthday money.  I just turned 20 and am able to go to college, but working in between classes till nighttime usually.  I haven't been able to bring my bike up to school yet, because its at home sitting until I can get it running reliably.

Even without it here, I have thought about my bike everyday, endlessly searching this forum and others for information I can use, making notes in my repair manual.  One of the things I needed was all new hoses and lines, which I haven't found yet.  The brakes on mine feel almost unsafe, and always just stop in time. Another reason it hasn't come to school yet.

I can really use my motorcycle for getting back and forth from school to work, especially now that its not snowing here anymore.  I'd truly appreciate your help!
Also, if it makes it any better, I am going to put some stuff I can't use around on the forum soon once I start the restoration.
Thanks!

Four weeks ago I bought my first motorcycle. A 1992 GS500. I could see in the picture on craigslist that it wasn't that pretty, but it had new tires. So when drove to pick it up on a rainy day in Boston, it didn't run too well, and I noticed rust here and there, but had committed to buying it so I paid the man and loaded it in the borrowed truck. After getting it home, I noticed that it needed fork seals and a new exhaust. No problem, I thought, "I knew it would need a few things". After spending some time getting the old gas and rust out of the tank and researching how to clean out the carb, I called it a night. I was looking at getting some safety gear Monday when there was a company meeting called. Across the board pay cuts unless people volunteered to be laid off. Not surprisingly, everyone elected to keep their job, but we all have taken a 20% pay cut. Which cuts into my budget for getting my GS ready for inspection quite severely. With original brake lines and in need of a bleed, saving money on brake parts would be greatly appreciated, as it would help me get my bike safe and inspected sooner rather than later.

Thanks!

Here in Canada, we have snow 365 days a year (and even 366 days a year on leap years). The other day I was on my way home to my igloo from my job as a lumberjack. The dogsled that I was riding veered off the road and into the ditch when the dogs smelt someone cooking Canadian bacon. The sled itself broke, so I was forced to take the trusty GS500, slap some skis on the sides for balance, and start taking that to work instead. Unfortunately, without a stainless steel brake line, my bike slides more than a polar bear down a melting glacier. Nearly lost my toque!

Help a canuck out. A man's gotta bring home the bacon, eh?

And the winner is...........................

Intergalactic,

My all knowledgable wife declared intergalactic the winner.  She said it's because it's his first bike and he might never get it rideable if his job keeps screwing him.  Hope this helps.  PM me with where you want it sent.
