bought a gs 500e from a friend that didn't have time to ride or fix it. it sat under a carport for about 3 or 4 years.
very clean nice looking bike.  red with spec 2 fairings. never droped, wreck, laid over. v&h exhaust, k&n filter, jetted.
but back to the sitting for years. the fuel lines had rotted. gas ran out. tank rusted.
fixed all the hoses. still woundn't start. so i took it to the shop(big mistake). didn't have time to fix either.
bascily the carbs, petcock, etc where dirty and gummed up. and boots on the carbs where dry rotted.
the shop said that suzuki didn't make the boots any more.  :o about freaked out. but i got online and found a place in illinois that had them.
all that took them a year and three months to fix it! in that time they went through 3 different shop managers.
the fourth one figured out how long my bike was there and got it done.
they were going to charge me almost $600 to fix it, but considering the time he cut that in half.
and for some reason the took the fairings off the bike and lost(stole) my windscreen.
they said they would reimburse me up to a reasonable amout.

First off...hello

Sorry about all of the problems with your bike.

Sooooo..does the bike run now? Did they fix everything that was mechanically wrong with it? This might be common knowledge here but what is a spec 2 fairing? Since 500e's didn't have fairings I assume it is some type of after market add on? How did you let the shop keep it for a year? After a week I would have been in there with a baseball bat "persuading" the manager to speed things up... ;)

yes it runs. basicly they just had to clean the carbs.  sounds bad ass with that v&h exhaust. i thought Super Traps exhaust was loud.
well had other bills to pay. like an '08 gmc sierra. plus i kept buying other things too.
yeah spec 2 is an aftermarket add on full fairing kit. plus i only paid $400 for the bike.

yes i know about the spec 2 site. but if you look closer the site is being restruced and isn't complete yet.
i finaly did track them down and got a response on a replacement windscreen.
had to be patient, cause every time i got the money to get it out of the shop. somenthing requiring my money came up.
but i got it now. and you can bet i'll never take it back to them again.
