i was able to install the 89 clipon on my gs500f last night. I bought the setup from pronator which come with buddha 7/8 straight bars. The top place came powdercoated already..i just have to paint the bars.  I have to bend bar about 15 degrees outward to clear my fingers. I have to chopped off 2.25 inches from bar and hone the inner end bar to accept my end bars. I also drill holes for the controls.  heres are some pictures.

heres two more pictures of the bar before installing the controls

that look good i just order me some  how hard was the install did you have any custom work to do
2 the top

The extra length was for clearance between brake banjo and dash.
The part you cut prolly have the ends drilled for the press in weights ... 11/16th was the drill I used I think.
Anyway good you were able to bend them.
Cool.

the top plate was straight forward, remove and replace. I have to swapped out the grommets for the gauge support from my original plates to the the new one. The bar have to be bent about 15 degrees outward. I was able to take it to a shop where he just clamped the bar and heat it up with the torch and manually bend it..about 10 mins. I did have to drill holes for the controls and drill and enlarge the opening of the end bars to use my end bars.

Your top triple to bottom triple bolts - the chrome ones in the middle 2 of them ... they dont look stock.
You swapped them ?
Cool.

hey buddha. before i cut off bars..i did position the brake banjo bolts about 1/2 away from the gauge..so having the extra length helps alot. i was able to get it cut at a local muffler shop for free :). all i have was hand saw..didnt feel like killin myself cutting steel bars..hahha. Drilling holes for the control was easy. I just position the control on the bar..mark it..punch it with a screw and drill it.....hahhah. For the bar end..luckly i have a unibit that i bought from harbor freight. i drill it enough to accept my bar ends.

You're going to love the ride. I couldn't believe how much more comfortable it was over stock.

Good luck with finals, and graduation! I imagine you'll look something like this:  :woohoo:

I think the 89 posts and what not were unique pieces. No other bike had em, unlike the tube bar and the mounts for it. Top plate stays unique almost for every bike.
The machining and casting and what not would ahve been $$$ ... so ... cheap bastards.
Cool.
