Hey, I'm a newb here. Just picked up my first motorcycle today - a 2001 GS500 w/10,003 miles for $1700. The bike needs new tires, but I think I got a pretty good deal! I'm excited to learn to ride and learn a lot about the bike. I took the MSF course last week, so all I need to do now is get some plates on it. Let me know what you think!

Bring it home

Gave it a good wash

My car and bike...love them both!

Also, the seller told me it was a GS500E, but since it's a 2001, it's just a GS500, right?

Nice bike.  Congratulations!
My 90 GS500E has spread itself across the nation.

Congrats on the course and the bike! She looks to be in fine shape. I m a newb myself. I got my GS last fall and got my MSF course card in the mail a day a ago. Looking forward to getting out on her.

Thanks for the comments! The car is just an 02 WRX, not STi, but it has a few STi parts  :D. They actually didn't sell that body STi in the US.

Luckily, I got my MSF certificate on the last day of class. I rode around my neighborhood today, and all I can say is I need more practice! I'm having a little harder time with shifts and the clutch than I expected. It doesn't help that the clutch doesn't start to disengage until you press the lever half way. I'll have to try adjust it. I'm just glad I found a good place to find information and knowledge about the GS  :thumb:

I found this place to be full of new ways to share your life story on two wheels.  The people here are like family, however dysfunctional, to each other and I wouldn't waste my time anywhere else... :thumb:

technically, they're all GS500's - the difference is a GS500E is naked and the GS500F is faired.  where are you located as they stopped selling the E model in the US a while ago.  I don't know when exactly, but they still sell E's in canada and europe I think.

you need to do a fenderectomy stat man, otherwise a nice looking bike :thumb:

Looks in very nice shape.  You're going to have some fun!   :)

Standard reminders:

Take it easy and do some parking lot practice before hitting the road.

Remember what you learned in the MSF course.

Always wear your riding gear.

Smile, damn it!   :icon_razz:
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?
