"In Freudian Theory, the thoughts and desires banished to the unconscious mind motivate the behavior of the conscious mind. If someone banishes all evil to the unconscious mind in an attempt to be wholly and completely good, it can result in the development of a Mr. Hyde-type aspect to that person's character."

Well, i quit smoking again on Monday...  Seemingly a great thing right?  Only one problem, every time i do, my Mr. Hyde come out.  Good news?  I started smoking again today so i should be fine until the next attempt.  Something that multiplied the situation 15 fold was that i woke up to watching Michael Steele's press conference yesterday.  Talk about a real ass?  It pretty much put me in a shoot first and ask questions later mode.  Which i did.  And still will when i run across a Republican.  My apologizes to Josh and Buddha.  As long as they aren't Republicans.  My words where harsh and poorly chosen as well as a bit on the exaggerated side.  The next time i try and stop, which will be soon, i will push myself away from the keyboard and avoid all things that breathe or have feelings for at least a week because it just doesn't make much sense for everyone to have to suffer with me.  And because i don't like having to type this in shame...

I think you came up with the short end of the stick twice now Josh in regards to my attempts at quitting smoking.  Sry.  I was a d*ck, an ass, and it was uncalled for.  Thanks for your well wishes in regards to me quitting smoking.  You're showing a lot of class about it all...

My welder quit smoking and took up chewing ...
It wasn't bad ... he didn't get cranky or nothing ... but man was that filthy ... I really could not wait till he got back to smoking ...

I dunno what to tell you big shot. I never been a smoker and I think that and pushing people to get divorced, and pushing kids to move out of the house @18 etc etc etc are all ways to get us to waste $$ so big corporations can rule over us for ever.

OK so here is the deal ... yell at me all you want ... even use upper case ... but castrate that corporation that has its hands down your pocket and its whatever in your mouth ... if that makes you angry ... start a new thread ... type in upper case ... and remember I also bashed your front end ... OK so ... go.

Remember every one else, everytime you smoke you're giving Phillip, Morris, and reynolds a bl0w J0B.

I feel for you Big, I smoked for almost 8 or 9 years.  I am now over 2.5 years without a smoke!  I still get cravings every now and then but then I remember how nice it is to go run a 5 mile race and not DIE lol  Just keep trying and if you want some advice PM me and I'll try to help!

Wow is quitting smoking really that bad? It seems we've had two posters that have tried this and have had outrageous outbursts on this forum! Maybe give a shout out to your doc and see if they can help. Many of them have access to information about support groups and such.

I am looking in trying to get off of some of my medications. I'm tired of the stigma that comes with them. I've gotten down from 125mc down to 75mcg but can't seem to get down below that. I get shaking chills, fever, sweats, and barely able to crawl out of bed!

Good luck,
Mary

lol that makes sense then, because I searched some of recent threads and they all seemed totally different and positive.  A good smoking cure if do a ride along with me and transport a few emphysema patients that can't even walk to the mailbox without O2 in tow.  :(

I used the patches for half the recommended time frame and they were able to control most of my physical symptoms.  I also bought a big ass bad of suckers to help with the oral fixation and I had no trouble after that.  This was also the start of training for the police force so I had an ultimate goal backing up quiting also.

Big Shot

Did some reflecting on this and found an explanation for my behavior and what i believe is a fatal flaw in my attempts at quitting smoking.  Basically, every time i try and stop is when i'm already stressed out, worked up, or beat down about something else in life so i already got my finger on the trigger.  Add in a little of the, "I want a smoke...  No i don't...  Yes you do!  No you don't! GRRRRR!!!" every 15 minutes or so and i guess it's pretty easy to see why i go temporarily insane and start letting the rounds fly.

Only took me about 28 attempts to figure this out...

Who's not the sharpest tool in the shed again?
