Welcome!! Congrats on the purchase!  Get protective gear, as much as you can, and put some aftermarket fork springs in those forks. Night and day difference. Then enjoy for a while

If you let it ride in the back of the pickup, it will just want to start leaking oil to mark its spot...  :D

To keep Yama happy, I'll point out that that is mostly an AMF era Harley joke, with a few shades of porous casting era (and Lucas, Prince of Darkness electrics) British bikes. They would leak without even having a leak, as it were.

My favorite Lucas diss - "If Lucas made guns, wars wouldn't start either"
1990 GS500EL - with moderately-ugly paintjob.
1982 XJ650LJ -  off the road for slow repairs

I have to say I'm pretty happy with the results! a friend of mine told me its not illegal to place your plate under your seat so long as it has a angle of visability at least 30 degrees true or false? maybe he's just lucky and has never been pulled over for it, not too sure.

I also installed the superbrightled.com bulbs... for some reason i misread the polarization issue... easy fix, I'm thinking of either taking out my high beam blue cover and replacing it with a yellow to have two turn lights so to speak, or I might just head to radio shack and solder up a diode on each of the "power" wires, I'm thinkin the diodes, and I went with the blue speed and tach lights, it looks sick with the blue paint. Both options are pretty simple, I put the 9 led one in Neutral to make sure I could see it during high noon... talk about overkill! but I like it

fender looks great, but I'd tip the plate out a bit.  I'd be concerned it won't be lit up at night?

Yea I'm a little worried about that, My friend's 600gsxr he put the plate all the way up practically in front of the wheel! Im thinkin I'll tip mine back... I only have my permit right now, so I dont do much night drivingthough either...

I strongly recommend it be in clear view!  :police: want to see your plates for a reason! This is what can happen to you in Florida!
"The plate must be at least 18" above the ground, be centrally located and mounted horizontally. The plate must be rigidly mounted and clearly visible from any angle behind the motorcycle. This means that plates mounted forward of the rear wheel, or on either side of the motorcycle, are in violation of the law. And, if a plate is mounted on a pivoting hanger it is also in violation of this vehicle code. The first time violation of this code is a fine of $1,141.00. The second infraction costs $2,500.00, the third costs $5,000 and loss of motorcycle license endorsement for 10 years"

Now how much they enforce it  :dunno_white: But, I don't have $1,141.00 to find out!

NO KIDDING, a grand on the first offense! they take that stuff seriously! I'm up in Minnesota though...I'll have to do some research, the tilt definatly helps the sleek and sexy look, but legal is legal, and a ticket like that = new exhaust/jets/air filter/forks/gear indicator  :o

Yeah, just imagine the look on all the squids faces when they hit Bike Week. Yes, they enforce it strongly there even out of state folks! For Florida being such a biker destination it is not Biker Friendly! Unless well like me you get a  :police: who is also a biker!

I'm going to have to grab an updated handbook when I go do the dreaded deed of renewing my license and registration. Someone please  :2guns: me before I have to the DMB and wait in Purgatory for a whole day!

Ah, lucky.  I'm not eligible until September since I'm still under 18, but I'm taking the MSF course in a June.  Since I'm 18, I'm not able to take the test at the end of the course?  :cookoo: Makes no sense to me.  So I guess I'm going to have to have a fun DMV test story like everyone else! :D

Was it hard to take off the sticker in the back?
It wasnt bad... I was actually drunk when i did it, a buddy said it would look sick, and i have to agree... I used a toothpick to get under it to start with, at the back corner, from there just go extremly slow pulling from side to side and she'll come right up, from there, it leaves ALL the adhesive, I personally used some Gas and a sponge, after the gas got most of it, I went over it with Goo-gone, washed her up with some laundry detergent and water, and polished her up, worked like a charm! the big thing is patience though. dont get excited pulling off the sticker.

It'll probably be a while till i get to the forks fixed up, but do you have a link of where to purchase them? and how difficult is it? I've seen the illustrated parts breakdown of how they are put together, is it really that simple?
