The fiance bought a 1999 GS500 today. Just 1104 miles on it. It is super clean and quiet. Yellow, with the dark gray rims. Slick. So my lowering links and handle bar riser get transferred to that bike now.

I am jealous. It is a nice looking bike, she takes ownership soon.

I've kind of wanted my girlfriend to get a bike, but with her driving history (4 totaled cars, 6 serious accidents, countless curbs, bumps and small objects run over) I doubt she'd make it through the MSF course alive.

I do that all the time ... I am far better on a bike. I think Idiots that design our world have shafted us by putting us in cars, and designing every thing for the opposite. Who the Fluck thought of fitting a card reader on the side of the road to open a damn gate to get into your office (mine does) and its far easier on a bike. Or ...
Try the drivethrough ATM ... today I used one, everything was shot to hell ... I could not even open the car door, it hit the damn ATM. Sheesh ...
On a bike it would be a breeze. Cos it was built by a man standing there, not a fool sitting in a fetal position facing 90 degrees away.

Cool.

I tried to get into airport parking once, you would've thought I was trying to pull my bike through the gates of the white house parking lot. Of course you sit there for a second and think "I'll just wait for a car to pull up behind me, then the weight will open it", but of course a car pulls up, but they're afraid to come near you, so they stay 15 feet back, just like they do at right lights, and you're turning around waving for them to move up so they hit the sensor, but they won't come near you, and you both end up sitting there. I eventually had to just go through when someone else went through, and told the guard in the booth to remember me.

I had to make Heather get her own helmet. She's an ok driver, but a little uncoordinated, but either way I couldn't stand her helmet smacking the back of my helmet any time I so much as slightly backed off on the throttle. I'm still not sure, but the next time I get a bike, I may just get one that doesn't even have a passenger seat. I always looked at bikes like that and wondered "why would anyone buy a motorcycle that only has one seat, how are they going to give people rides?", and now I realize not wanting to have to give someone rides.

Some people would just open the window to get to the card reader and ATM.... :cookoo:

More things should be voice activated so you didn't have to worry about the 90 degree fetal position. You could just open your window and yell "OPEN THE DOOR!", and drive on.

I won't give anyone rides.  the bike handles like crap 2up and it kills the acceleration = no point.

??? I have riden thousands of miles with my wife on the back and the GS was great. Unless you or your passenger is a 300 LB tank I see no reason not to ride 2 up.

Yeah, my ex is 100 ibs and that was no problem.  And I took our friend who was probably a good 50-60 pounds more than her and that was no problem.  Would have sucked if I hadnt put the kat shock and sonic springs though.  Maybe thats what your missing dude.

It's not a threadjack unless you've already posted pictures!!

there's no real point, but when you're 19 and girls ask for a ride, who are you to turn them down? By this point I'd prefer the one seater just so if someone asked I could use that as my excuse instead of having to tell them I just don't really want them on the back of my bike. Whether I end up with a 1 or 2 seater down the road will likely depend on whether my wife thinks she'll ever want to ride on the back of it, but considering she still has her own, I should be good.

I'm with Buddha, nothing is designed for a bike. I have two routes to and from work. The short way (by more then a mile) is if there is a car on the pressure sensor at the light for the left hand turn. If not I don't bother the light will never change, cars won't come close enough to trigger it usually so I go the long way with no lights. It's just ridiculous. Usually they have those stupid sensors where they don't need them and not where they do need them!

"And that's all I got to say about that" (Forrest Gump)

Sorry about the small threadjack.  Where's the pictures of her new bike?

shiznizbiz

we have a law here where you only have to wait so long at a sensored light and you may turn left or go straight on a red so long as you dont present a danger to other motorist by doing so.  I forgot how long it was so i just sit and wait til theres no traffic, and go.
Plutonian Death volvo is [NOT] your friend!

If you put a magnet on the underside of your bike it will trip the traffic light sensors, apartment gate sensors, etc.

along with this since I put my micron exhaust on my bike i don't have any problems with the lights i wonder if it has something to do with how it is made
