I have looked around in the forum and there are a couple of topics on replacing tachometer light bulbs however I am stuck at a point and it would be great if anyone can tell me what to do.
I can see the bulbs however I am not sure if I should remove them by twisting them (as we do a regular bulb) or simply pulling it out or there is some other way.

On the back side there are the wires supplying power to the bulbs. Are these supposed to be removed ?

Please let me know  !
Thanks a lot.

I believe you just pull em out.  They don't twist-the base of the bulb is flat.

A quick look at the Haynes appears to say the gray jobies pull out the back, then you just pull the bulb out.

Here's an earlier post with a link down at the end to a repair manual that should have a pic or two if you need more.

You proabably already knew this, but those aren't the tach lights in that picture -- they are the dash indicator lights.  And yes, you just wiggle the rubber socket out together with the bulb. Then the bulb pulls straight out.

I started documenting this topic, but haven't posted it becuase my LED bulbs aren't in yet.  But here's a start...

Sweet photos! I can't wait to see the full post.

My LEDs just arrived, so I should have more on this after the weekend.

Cold rain, no garage, and life-in-general got in the way of this project.  So no updates yet. I'll stop making bad assumptions on time-line and just post when it's done.

Fred Thanks for the post.
Actually I did not realize in the beginning that those where the  indicator lights. Now it looks so straightforward.

So here is the deal. The tachometer lights and speedometer lights have to be a T10 gauge lights (bigger) and the indicator lights (neutral, oil, high beam, indicator) are T6.5 guage.
I ordered these bulbs online with store pickup and the dealer sent all six T10  gauge lights. So now I have a bunch of Tachometer lights and no indicator lights. The dealership is 50 miles away >:(. So I need to spend more on the gas to get the units back than what the bulbs are worth.

I just put in a new indicator light about three months ago. It blew last night. Did Suzuki even think about when they designed what a farkin PITA it is to change at 79 cent bulb! Last time I did it the stinkin tach screw stripped the hole so had to go up a tiny bit but still was having contact problems put an extra washer on and tach worked (new tach). I'm scared to death to have to take it alll apart again to change a stinkin light. I'm furious right now. Was thinking of doing the LED bit but I would need a very detailed instruction on it in order to do it! Not electrically inclined have an electrician friend but he does everything. would be nice to do something without help!

Have you tried calling the dealership maybe they will just send 'em to ya for free. Never hurts to ask  :dunno_white:

I'm grateful for this post.  This is going to help a lot when I change my bulbs after I get home.
