Hey everybody,

As far as exhaust pipe diameter goes (looking to do a straight slip-on mod) anyone know what of other makes and models an 07 GS500F system would be compatible with?

For example: Im just wanting to do a slip-on. Would I be able to (hypothetically) by an R6 slip on that would also work on a GS?

Thanks

Yeah, I was just looking at that the other day, this one is in the wiki. There's pictures on the actual page, they didn't copy over here.....

Yamaha R6 Slip-On
This is probably the easiest of the custom slip-ons, as the r6 has a 45mm pipe(the same as a gs). The only issue with this system is the curve of the link pipe, causing interference with the swing arm.

The R6 can must be from model year 98 -2001 (Carb model) in order to fit as later years have a different diameter.

For this can, you have to cut the stock exhaust just after the 2 to 1 box, leaving about 2 to 3 inches so the link pipe has something to clamp to.

There are 2 ways to remedy the swing arm interference issue:

1. Cut and re-weld the link pipe to get the right angle

See hmmmnz's video with sound for more details (NZ/UK).

2. Get a couple of washers and force the can outwards to clear the swing arm

See trichuris's video with sound for more details (UK).

Sounds cool, but I don't know how to weld, and the washer thing sounds easy enough, but I'm not sure how much pressure they're actually talking about, and I'd feel weird about it if it was more than just a few milimeters.
