oh i didnt realize you were talking about the rear. The rear is unscathed, only some oil fling and some road grit on the license plate. Paint is fine.

In the front by the header and the lower engine section is fine as well, no rock chips.

I just think a bedliner would give a durable more even looking finish. But not require full dismantle like powdercoating.

No, I was talking about the front. The back doesn't have too much to worry about, it doesn't even have an undertail to mess up at the moment, although that's my next project. I was just worried if I painted those rails around the engine that all the stuff coming from infront of me would hit them and make them look like a mess.

Car mufflers are for cars.....period!  I bet sooo many people laugh as they drive by you with a 5" can on your bike, I know I would.....My 00 Civic Si w/ DOHC B16 sees 9k almost every day with a muffler like that (GReddy) and it still sounds dumb.  4 cylinder car motors will never sound good. IMO.

Be careful. I'm an emotionally fragile creature. You almost hurt my feelings with that one. *not*  :flipoff:

Try dropping down to 4 Oreos and set your pilot screw 3 turns out.

I was posting from my mobile device whoever wanted to be witty. And just for the record, never in this thread did I ever really ask for anyone opinion if I should get a bigger bike. You all don't know me and don't know what I'm fully capable of.

I just got $2000 out of my paypal account and I'm now on craigslist looking for a used 650 or 600. I have called progressive and got quotes and I can afford them. My gs has an offer of $2400.

If I can't find a bike I'm going to buy some grannies car, and sell it when summer starts.

And since my thread was hijacked, whoevers bike that is with the big ass pipe thing, you remind me of the mexicans around here who make their crappy toyota tercels look like sports cars.

You're 17 and have put 6,000 miles on a motorcycle. You're pretty transparent to most of us.

Buy a Civic, maybe Renhen will let you borrow his exhaust. haha, sorry man, if no one else had said something about it I never would've given it a second thought, now it's the topic of the thread.

How'd you get $2000 out of paypal? it only lets you transfer $500 a month to your bank account.

In retrospect Skeets get what you want. I think you were lucky enough to choose the GS500 as your first bike and smart to take the MSF course. When you post things here you are going to get opinions that's what it is all about, albeit sometimes negative they are just opinions.

People on here generally 99.999% just want to help others. And in your case - the small thread jack I think you got a lot of good advice and even from some one of your age. I think the census here is we all want you to be safe and get some more experience before you move up in horse power is all. When you can ride the GS on winding roads and keep up with bigger bikes you're going to realize two things. One it's not the power that makes riding fun, and two if you "can" do that, then you are ready to move up to more HP.

I know you are short in the tooth right now but when people post opinions, mostly they are trying to save you the grief of making the mistakes they have in the past. So I know it is hard to listen to others tell you something contrary to what you "want" to hear, but in here it's not BS, it's advice that is tried and true worth its weight in "GOLD"

So Good luck and always be safe and smart they go together!  :thumb:

The reason I got the gs500f in the first place was because I took advice. I was going to get a Kawasaki 650 (Kawasakis are built so much better than Suzukis) but decided to get the gs500f instead.

I don't ride on winding roads, my bike isn't really for pleasure...It's a tool to get me to work, and to school. I've riden through the twisties and it's not fun imo. It's only fun when you know the next turn isn't going to have sand or gravel so you can really lean the bike.

I can control the bike fine if you're asking? I ride it everyday usually very spirited also. I don't care that they can't afford to upgrade and they're happy with their gs500, I'm not. That's all that matters.

Actually I do, my brother has a Kawasaki and it's built 10x better than my gs500.

All nice bikes and low mileage, look to be in your price range.  :thumb:

I'm mostly looking for a Kawasaki now. My brother says they're better built than my Suzuki...and proves it every time we work on our bikes.

Better built ??? ??? ???
Tell him to replace the starter clutch.
Then come on back and say that again.
IF I COULD FRAME MY MIND---WHERE WOULD IT HANG ?
