BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

OMG, you've been riding a GS for a year AND 4 months.... clocked in a whopping 6500 miles! Look out Rossi! You've dropped the poor girl multiple times and say you don't like the way it looks cuz of all the scars your professional riding has caused......... well, I for one don't wanna listen to you complain when yer siitin in yer wheel chair crying about a bent frame, shattered plastics, and broke forks on yer purdy new SS bike.... Mary, get yer spatula out, cuz he's gonna need to be scraped up like a fine omlette....

like many others on here, SS bikes & liter bikes get in my way and I have to slow down for them in the twisties....

damn kids :dunno_white:

Me, Alpha, Roadstergal, Pablo (DEFINITELY Pablo) and a few others can whoop your arse on a SS any day.  I learned on the GS, and took my riding skills over to the SS world. Alpha and RG can probably handle a SS better than I can since they've been to the track many times. Pablo RIDES an SS at the track.

Sorry...  I don't know what my point was.  I'm dead tired from NO sleep last night (literally) and a 24 mile bicycle ride this morning.  I'll try and remember my point while I'm in LaLa Land.

Watch you talkin bout Willis I already been riding today  :flipoff:! I even got Flick a treat a shiney new 15th sprocket will be here on Tuesday YAY. Still got $80 to spend on him thanks to some amazing people on this site. AND AND AND get this I found a kick arse pair of water proof cargo pants that are water proof that fit over my boots and pants for get this $5 YES! So was a good day!

Skeet you are a good young man. Trust me I respect you for wearing gear and such. I know alot of people twice your age that is riding a hayabusa as her first bike (dropped it 6 times already) wears stilletos when riding, no helmet, and spagetti straps shirt! So, age really isn't it!

Wanna see what caught my eye today?

Although, I liked how it sat, the looks, and other things. I  :dunno_white: I don't think I've gotten all out of Flick I can get. Or maybe he's not paid off yet and still has three more years of full maintanance and warranty!

Mary

So um...

Those spagetti straps shirts she wears...  um... they catch a lot of wind, right?

Are you a 60+ year old man that doesn't get laid, and then takes it out on everyone else? I think so.

I just wanted to quote this again because I think it's hilarious.

How has no one said this yet???

SV650.

The GS500 is in insurance group 7, the SV650 is group 9, while (for example) things like the ZX-6R is group 14-17. WAY to expensive. Hell, my Bandit 600S is in group 13 and it sucks to insure.

I'm buying a SV650S (2003+) ASAP.

btw, I've had the GS500 for three years now and I could never bring myself to sell it. Granted, I've redone the whole thing so I'm a bit attached.

Because he doesn't want an SV. He wants a supersport so he can look cool and pick up girls and ride it in straight lines, because twisties aren't fun. He isn't in it for the pleasure of riding, he's in it because he thinks it makes him look cool. Also, he's 17 and knows everything about eeverything and the rest of us are stupid old adults who don't know what it is like to be his age.

ok skeet, i totally hear you on the wanting to upgrade bit oh really i do, and i dont want you to think that i am just joining the band wagon of lets pick on skeet, im not.

However you say you have had the bike a year and that its done what its supposed to, i have to disagree as you said you picked up 6500 miles in that year but to be honest thats not a lot, iv been riding for 4 years now had my gs for 6 months and to be honest iif i had bought anything bigger i would be dead right now.

what i am trying to say is i would really consider putting atleast 10,000 miles on the bike before swapping out, yes you arent that pleased with the aesthetics but thats a relatively easy solution. afterall there are loads of guys on here who can guide you through how to modify it in almost any way you want, from fixing the cracked panels to making brand new custom panels to stripping it naked.

All i am saying is there are lots of options with the gs that will make it look amazing for a lot less than a new bike and there are also a lot of modifications that can make it perform fantastically.

well there you go there is my 2p

actually i read a study the other day in one of the bike magazines in the uk and they checked the past 3 years and found there were 55 fatalities in the uk, they then looked at what kind of bikes the accidents were on and 92% of them were sports bikes so if u stick with ur gs it means u only have an 8% chance of dying lol

Man, people here hate fast bikes! haha, I fully understand that people should ride what they can handle, and only upgrade when they're ready, and if people were only saying this because Skeet is young and has only ridden for 6k miles(hell I had a ninja 250 as a 2nd bike and rode that thing for 14000 miles), but I usually see people trying to talk ANYONE out of upgrading from their GS that mentions it here. Smaller bikes are great for learning and twisty roads, but not everyone want to spend all their time on back roads, or caring about their gas mileage. I don't need a big engine, I don't even need an engine. I imagine I'll spend more time on a bicycle than I ever will on a motorcycle, but I can still appreciate a strong engine when I have one.

Bridger

Yeah, +1. Alotta ppl here seem to think the GS500 is like the only bike worth riding or some shiz.  If I could've afforded a gixxer instead of a GS500F I would have bought a gixxer hands down.  But, who am I to talk?  I rode my GS home from the dealership(25 miles) with not so much as one second experience on a streetbike, although I had oplenty of dirtbike experience. LOL. I have never dropped it i might add.

i'm a little confused. the bike is, "just a tool" to you and you don't enjoy riding it? you don't ride for the pleasure of riding?  :dunno_white:  my corolla is "just a tool" to get me and the family around as well. but i tell you what, i really, really love this car. more than any i've ever had. i ENJOY driving it. i look forward to moments driving this thing. sure, it isn't the fastest or probably even the coolest looking thing around, but you know what? none of that matters, it does it's job and i like it. that's what counts. i'm not going to tell you not to upgrade or whatever. it's your cash, spend it how you want. however, i'm going to suggest you think about WHY you want to upgrade, WHY you ride to begin with. if you're not enjoying yourself, maybe motorcycling isn't for you. just my .02   :thumb:
