I guess this guy got fed up with the over priced junk on CL so he posted two Do's and Don'ts list.

Clueless Idiot. The seller can do anything he wants, obviously, he's the owner and its his bike and his posting.

The thing is, if you're truly over priced, it wont sell ... that is all that counts.

Yea I love the "I owe 6 grand so I am selling it for 6K" as well ... and I see them year over year ... this year its @ 6K, next year @ 5750 ... sorry, if it wasn't worth 6K this year it certainly isn't worth 5750 next year ... and that is how they structure loans @18% interest, 95% of your payment is interest. you pay 20 bucks a month to the capital, and 250 in interest.

However again, its their call, they have this peice of paper that says so.

BTW I make all the mods, charge people for all of those and never give stock parts, in some cases I hack the stock ones up for my parts ... I make some parts and slap em on as well ... I just toss them an open challenge ... find one that is better and buy it. They always come back ... You walk up to a cold bike, drop the key in, and hit start. It starts and runs without coughing, and wait 1 minute, and ride away, it runs all the way across without a hiccup. It also brakes and turns and there is enough proof that its future problems are liekly to be eliminated (coated tank, filled and bled brakes with dot 5 etc etc)

Sorry man, you're wrong and frustrated and more than likely aiming too high for your budget/life ... maybe you should buy a moped with the 400 bucks you're hoping to score a running GSXR for. You do make some good points though, but over all I am calling your BS.

Ooo and I love it when Idiots I know buy bikes from someone else ... they always come to me with this isn't working or my favorite ... "my bike wont start" ... literally ... so it wont crank or ot cranks and it doesn't start ... I dunno, it wont start can you fix it ... booya. I make $ off them and am not responsible for results. Love it.

I do a lot of stuff on CRAIGSLIST.
Jobs, bicycles, art, guitars, amps, bought my GS off of da 'list......
A few thing can be expected.  The wackos who want to trade snow skis for a guitar in Florida types,
and the forum policeman who put a "RE : - - - - - - " in front of the ads they are ranting about.
But, wut Budda sez is right in the end.....If its not overpriced for the person who wants it, it will sell.
These guys seem to think their constant calling out of ad posters is less annoying than spam, for some reason.

I look at it this way, "Time Is Money" if you list something on CL or E-bay or where ever and you ask a ridiculous price then you are waisting your "TIME" in essence your money.

Price it to sell at fair market value and be willing to negotiate and you will always make out in the end.

As far as complaining about a post on CL? Again that person is wasting his own money Buddha Loves Youing!

Sell your bike in respect to realistic mileage expectations. According to DMV records and AMA statistics, average motorcycle mileage for currently registered and insured motorcycles is 2,500 miles a year nationwide. The industry standard for mileage expectation for a sale is 3,000 miles a year for sportbikes and 5,000 miles a year for sport-tourers and cruisers. (showbikes, collectibles, and antiques vary) (KBB stating that the average is 8,000-12,000/year is incorrect and has been addressed by the AMA)


Yea so 3000 for sport bikes - so who here has a 89 GS with 60 K - show hands please ... I was on track for this ... but I sold my GS @48K 4 years ago, and I was a serious biker atleast till I moved from CA and even so I barely managed 3K a year average. but I did split it across 5-6 others.

Now you do know that a 50K GS is on its last legs right ? ...

The typical 80/90's GS has ~12-15K and I love it when book value nuts call and say the book says its worth 700 ... I'd be like ... the book says 3K /yr which would make it a 50K mile bike. So come on over with 700 and buy my 48K mile 89.

I did that to 3 of them and I sold the other GS for asking price each time.

All these book values only hold for 5 years, they drop off after that if I recall. They also are based on DMV sale prices. Of course you walk to the dmv and always always always say the actual $ you paid for it right ...

Bought my SV650 and my GS off of Craigslist....sold and bought numerous college textbooks, sold my graduation tickets, gave away a vintage stock of 1960-1970 playboy mags....

I've never really ran into trouble on there..if it's junk, it sucks to be the seller.  Besides, you never know when someone needs parts or something, right?
