"i have a 1995 gs500 and it has a center stand along with the kick stand. im just 140 pounds and i cant figure out how to lift the motorcycle by myself so it is propped up. And when i do try to do it myslef, i have a huge problem with tipping over. Can anyone give me pointers on how to set it up"

If you do a search, this topic has been covered a few times.
Its all in the technique, if you just try to pull backwards it won't work. Its been awhile since I had a center stand on my bike, but you do most of the work pushing forward with your foot. Straighten the bike out and pull back a bit with your arms but most of the work is in the leg.
