What will I need for a carb rebuild

Can you tell me what I will need and the corresponding numbers I will need to completely rebuild my carbs. I don't need jets or anything, just o-rings, and gaskets. I'm going to get diaphrams and carb boots and o-rings as well.

In addition to whatever bad parts you find, I suggest 29, 33, 34.  And 26, just because they are so easy to lose.  And replace 25 with socket head cap screws.

are your diaphragms damaged.  If I remember right they're pretty expensive since you'd have to buy slides with them, and not part of a typical carb rebuild.

Just thinking out loud so take it for what it's worth.

Hmmm bike bandit has the diaphram seperate. I'm not sure if it's sealing correctly. I'm just trying to gather a christmas list of parts to knock out every possibility of my problems and not have to pay for it lol  :D

O rings yea, but if you're careful you prolly wont have to swap more than 3-4 O rings.

Rebuild is a bogus word shops like to throw around to charge you 400 bucks for a 40 dollar job.

You need 4 O rings which die from age, 1 (float gasket) is you are careless removing it, and you need to rejet it. Even stock, needs rejetting.

Diaphragms may need to be replaced but only if you see a hole in them. It can be a tiny hole but will severely kill your rpm under load.

I'd swap O rings (float spigot, top - very important, emulsion tube and float retainer - less so) and clean and rejet, set air screws to 3 and set floats to stock, check for overflows/leaks and run it.

I'd sell you a jet pack for $25 shipped, O rings $8 additional and really be careful opening it, soak your diaphrams a few mins in gas before slapping em on and you wont need to buy any bogus crap.

Most of all, do not ever buy a DJ kit. And even if you do, do not drill and close off the holes in the bottom of your slides.
I got used diaphragms and slides etc ... but make sure you need em first. I also have used float gaskets. Again, remove carefully and you should not need any of em. Just jets and O rings I am guessing.

Hey Buhhda I appreciate you're help within my last couple of threads, carbs really go straight over my head some times. So you actually suggest replacing the jets? Are you talking about replacing them with stock or different ones since they're set a little lean at high rpm? Is that a jetpack for 1 carb for 25 or does that cover both?

On a stock US bike, they are set lean all around.

And WTF ... I am not selling 1 carb jet packs you genius ... if it has 2 carbs, jets need to be sold as 2 per pack, and that is $25 shipped.
O rings, 4 of the important and often chewed up ones again 2 of each are 8 bucks shipped with the jets, else $10. So, buy it and you what you need for 1 bike.

These are all home made (OK fine, home packed) and I only make to your set up. So can do pipe or whaever and I'll send you a different main for that set up. Pilots and washers are same as is the stainless bolts for the float bowls.

Its basically done to the setup, and all the information is on this site ... no voodoo jets like DJ where they throw some weird numbers on em and put in funky needles etc. My goal is to get people to understand carbs.

I also can do carbs, but factor in $45 and return shipping (parts and labor) if there isn't anything stripped/stuck in them. Drill out's are $5 more. Light cleaning is included. They will come back to you ready to bolt on and run. Cleaned, floats set, air screws set, synched and rejetted. But well ... you wont learn that way. Also my turn around time can be ... well dismal. Its getting cold and rainy and I am getting eaten by other BS. Anyway straight and square carb job will be under 2-3 weeks ... add in complications or needing a serious clean etc, it will be more time.

I have nothing but time until the spring, but I'd like to try it myself first. Everything is bone stock on the bike. I'll PM you when I'm ready to buy. Thank you sir.

Stock = +1, easy 125/40/1 washer/3 turns. Clean, adjust and synch. Basics.

The diaphrams are sold seperately from the slides for the GS500 atleast for the newer style carbs as i had to replace mine since i tore them while rejetting.  Guy at the parts counter was suprised they came seperate as on most bikes they are all one part from suzuki.

I would have never in a hundred years guessed you could get them separately.  Thanks, that's handy to know.
