Probably a good thing....if Facebook could tell me exactly how many hours I've been logged on over the past 4-5 years since I signed up, I wouldn't want to know   :icon_confused:  all part of my generation I guess though, to have this social networking reliance...

Yeah it looks that way :D can't be any worse then this weekend anyway. I'll definitely head out for a ride next weekend! I'll assess my options later in the week lol

Yeah there's too many people at work seem to just be on there all day... no idea how they get any work done  :dunno_black:

Not saying you're like that though, like you say it's the whole generation thing... I don't get it... haha... then again look how much time I spend on forums...  :cookoo:

Will let you know if I'm definitely meeting the Kat boys and if you're keen we can meet up at the Caltex again. Wonder if Slips is keen this time?

I wish I could but I'm unavailable for rides on Saturdays mate.

No worries mate, we're doing one big ride each season, next one will be the first Sunday in June (we're alternating Saturdays and Sundays exactly for that reason).

Azza, good to see you here.  Would love to be out there, not falling off though. :icon_mrgreen:  Tamborine is cool, did it the day before my accident.

Guys, there is a general feeling about BRC lately and its not good.  As a result some of us have got together and started a new local forum devoted just to riding with .  If you're interested in joining feel free, we're trying to create a positive environment without the testosterone.

AussieChick, I've looked at BRC's member list and they have about 1700 members from memory but nearly half are inactive because I think once the new members see the carrying on and crap they just don't come back.

New forum is here:

I don't spend too much of my working day on it, but when I actually attended uni lectures I found myself looking at my phone screen for more of the lecture then the lecture screen...it's a dangerously addictive network...I have been known to literally spend an entire day on the computer alternating mainly between Facebook, YouTube, online forums, eBay etc. Baaaad. Today is excusable though since there wasn't much going on outside.....

Yes please :) let me know later in the week!

Hi ThatOtherGuy! I can feel that, it's not the best vibe given off from BRC, just seems a bit boring to me...I'll check out your forum!  :icon_mrgreen:

So.... More cat pics? :op lol

Hope you heal up soon mate and I get to ride with you again. Will check out your group.

ThatOtherGuy

Can you imagine starting a cat thread at BRC, there would be blood everywhere.  If you want to start a thread about cats at SEQR, go for it, just adds to the entertainment.

Azza

Haha, I dunno, I pretty much just look at new members and ride days/ride reports

peteGS

So far for me BRC is pretty... meh... dunno why I bothered... seems to be very focussed on modern sport bike riders, every second ride I see posted is medium paced or fast paced ride... 950cc +... and I've heard more than one person I've met make the comment "I don't go on BRC rides any more, seems like every ride there's at least one crash"... starting to get to understand why they say that and I haven't even been on a ride yet! I like my pace, I'm comfortable with it... I think AussieChick could leave me behind :)

Will definitely let you know about Saturday AussieChick!

ThatOtherGuy, how are you healing up? Had your next surgery yet?

Not sure on joining another forum (see above... haha) but maybe I could trade the new one for BRC... wouldn't be much of a loss I don't think...

I heard that too!! From Ozzy on Ozbikers I think...I'm not keen on crashing (again) haha so maaaaybe I wont ride with them.......I did see how they have posts for bigger bikes only, which seems pretty rude to me excluding any smaller bikes.

Hahaha doubt it, I don't ride fast...trying to focus on getting my skills up rather then my speed, looking into taking some riding courses in the next few months when time and money permits...

peteGS

Yeah I'm not interested in crashing either... and from what I can see I wouldn't be surprised if the crashes are purely due to people riding beyond their comfort zone to keep up with other riders and I don't like that. If someone heads off into the sunset, then so be it... I'll get there when I get there, and I'll damn well enjoy it :D

That's why I like riding with the bunch of guys I ride with now, there's never any pressure to keep up, and if someone wants to go for a blast, they just go for it and wait at the next turn off for the group. There's a lot of mutual respect in there which is excellent.

Yeah all the good rides seemed to disappear through Christmas. One of the guys who normally runs awesome rides is back soon after waiting for fundage for new tyres. But it has changed alot since when I first joined, alot of the good ol regs have done the fade away. The rides I have done in BRC are alot slower than the SSup ride I did, I was fearing for my license just trying not to get lost

Healing well, right leg surgery planned for Tuesday, then hopefully home in two weeks.

I could show heaps of photos of my laparoscopy incision healing from the alien scene we had in ICU, you could actually see through to my intestines and see the stitches.  But the pictures are quite graphic so unless requested I will leave them out, I will publish this from today, taken by by my wife ThatOtherGirl.

AussieChick

I kind of do want to see these pictures......

Good luck with the surgery on tuesday!  :thumb:

As for BRC, I can tell you the history of why its gone south.  Basically the owner, Maria, was gong to sell it to a friend of mine, on lease, with eventual purchase, then she decided to keep it and let the person she was going out with, Ray, who she had an affair on, she is now married to the affair person, Aaron.  Aaron has no say in it and is in an unfortunate position.  Maria has allowed Ray to come in and do as he pleases and basically he has no idea how to run a forum, in fact none of them do.  The whole thing is a dogs breakfast and Ray comes in flopping his manhood on the forum table and basically just starts puffing his chest out, disabling member accounts and allowing a boys club mentality to prevail. Needless to say many people are put off by it.  I have spoken to Aaron personally and offered assistance initially but it was refused or not communicated.  Now I have over 10 years running and owning forums on many and varied subjects, so could really help turn BRC around.  So when refused decided I'd start my own forum and build it up, no rubbish, just riding bikes and having fun.

All rides we organise, you ride your own ride, no one is left behind if you want to have fun you can pass the leader and ride on etc, its all in the riding protocols.  We're organising Marshmallow rides every Tuesday night to help newbies.  When I eventually get back to riding, I plan to have a beginner ride a month, one longer ride a month, I publish all my rides and if I can get details from other members, I will publish their ride routes as well.

Oh and to make matters worse Ray is basically a predator on vulnerable people especially women.  He's now having an affair with a wife of a husband/wife members.  Not really a nice person despite what he tries to convince you off.

ThatOtherGuy

Okay then, this is a copy and paste from the other forum.  I update members there as I do have many friends there that are concerned and not SEQR members yet and some are assisting with house duties so I do appreciate their camaraderie.

Its amazing how little time I actually have between different teams discussing my various issues, physio, visitors etc.  To give you an idea, with the injuries I sustained I have the following teams do various things: Trauma; General Surgery; Ortho; Pain Management; Opthamology; Immunisation; ICU; Physio; Occ Therapy; Pharmacy (I may have missed some).

I also take a serious part and involve myself in my recovery, making sure to remember to help with liaising between the teams to the point that Professor Daryl Wall, reputedly one of the best surgeons in Australia is taking a personal interest in me and has insisted I call him by first name, he is like the rock god of surgeons and always has an entourage around him when moving about the hospital.  He is nothing short of impressed with the efforts I am going to to ensure nothing is missed or forgotten, that everyone is fully appraised of the other teams and their efforts and said to his students he actually considers me part of the team.

And the staff here are simply fantastic, they bend over backwards to make sure everything is right.

Anyway, you cannot keep a good man down, here's my two wheeling efforts from Tuesday.  Bear in mind I still have 5 broken ribs while I do all of this, I've gone from having around 12 different lines/tubes trailing of my body to only one.  My belly is distended due to bloating and wind:

Laura the physio initially assisting me, she is fantastic and nothing is too much trouble.

You can see ThatOtheMotherInLaw in the right of this picture, well part of her anyway.

Me storming the wards trying to see what the max speed is.  The chair needs a tune up, it pulls slightly to the left.  :icon_mrgreen:

The line/tube coming from my stomach is a Vac dressing and the only tube I now have.  In true style I was able to rig up a set up so I can attach the Vac pump to the wheel chair so I can be totally independent when rolling around, prior to that, someone had to carry the pump around following me.  The Physio, Laura was very impressed with my setup.  Basically the Vac pump is sucking out bad stuff from where the eColi infection was that had me staying in ICU for the extended period.  It gets changed every three days.  Now for those not squeamish I have photos of that wound, some of which I think do even show my intestines and the sutures in the abdomen muscles.  If you're squeamish, do not open the photo album.  This is what impresses Daryl, I keep the camera handy so that if he is not present for something, I can show him pictures to keep him up to date with progress.  As a sign of his class, in the second photo, you see his blue gloved hand unpacking the wound for the first Vac dressing, he's wearing a pin striped suit, cuff linked shirt while he works on me pulling out the dressing.  There was about 20 registrars and residents around my bed in ICU for that session, he is a true gentlemen and a scholar.  What he doesn't know is not worth knowing.

Courses are great but there is one thing you just can't beat and that's time spent with bum in seat. (Rhyming quote  :woohoo: )

ThatOtherGuy

Agree, time in the saddle is hard to beat.

mister

AC, I had mentioned on Ozzy's that just about every ride rept I read of BRC revealed someone crashed. Maria came on to defend the rides. I agree, they do have a Lot more newbies on their rides. But it ain't just the newbs crashing. And giving reasons/excuses doesn't change the FACT, that just about every ride of their's sees a crash.

I put a GS500 only ride on that board - after I was Asked to. I ended up with 3 pages of BS from the supersport riders puffing their chests and whatever. Eventually I was asked if I wanted that crud deleted from my ride thread which I accepted. But by then, any GS500 riders would have been shamed into not going or responding on the thread for fear of ridicule.

All they ever seem to do is go up Glorious in some fashion or do Beechmont. And I can't be stuffed with those oh-so-typical boy-racer places. So I don't go on their rides.

Plus, with that constant sidebar scrolling thing, it eats of phone power really quick - if you visit it on your phone.

Azza.... welcome here. A nice BP pic :thumb:

TOG, cheers for starting the other joint. How thing you want us riders to spread ourselves. HA!

mister, there is no "mister" registered, sometimes it may have an issue internally with the autoreject that I cannot control.  join up as say "mistermister", when I see that new member, I'll manually change it for you, then authorise it and all should be good. :thumb:

know what you mean about spread thin, member of here for GS500, Intruder forums and Bandit Forums, then BRC, plus SEQR.  luckily my 20 January ride was only posted here, SEQR and Bandit forums, so didn't have to cancel too much, but it was very close as I was in ICU almost up to the day of the ride and no access to online to cancel the rides.  Would have been very rude of me, but of course understandable I think not turning up.  however I still would have felt very bad people turning up and me not there.
