Hahaha doubt it, I don't ride fast...trying to focus on getting my skills up rather then my speed, looking into taking some riding courses in the next few months when time and money permits...

Courses are great but there is one thing you just can't beat and that's time spent with bum in seat. (Rhyming quote  :woohoo: )

Good point - well that's basically what I'm doing at the moment because it's easier and cheaper to get out on a weekend ride then pay for one  :thumb: I just mean like I don't know if some of my technique is wrong...as much as getting out there riding more is probably helping, no-one is specifically critiquing anything I do so I could be embedding bad riding habbits...

I'm sure we could all help you out there if you come on a few rides with us.

Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

AussieChick

Okay I just joined that group too.......I should stop now haha.

Ok, I'm on SEQR now, just waiting for email activation...

Weather's fining up this week supposedly, very keen to get out next Saturday even if most of the fun roads will be messy...

I'm definitely keen to get out this weekend, possibly both days...

I hadn't really considered the debris that will be on the road though...but looking at how much crap the two trees out the front of my place have shed, I can't see the roads up the mountains looking very good...hopefully a lot will be cleared by the weekend though, just have to take it easy I guess.....

Taking it easy is the go! I'll definitely be avoiding Nebo/Glorious, especially the back of Glorious, that's horrendous after rain and wind.

Most of Mt Mee should be ok, but those little detours we take on the way to Dayboro etc. will probably a bit iffy.

See where the Kat boys lead...

That ride's on Saturday yeah? I think there's one on OB on Sunday so if nothing else comes up (and by comes up, I mean remembering plans I've forgotten about haha) I'll do both  :icon_mrgreen:

peteGS

Not sure about OB but I see one on Sunday on SEQR... but yeah the Kat boys meet on Saturdays...

Cool  :D I feel a little spoilt for choice now haha no more loner rides for me!
...

peteGS

Hahah good stuff! Mind you loner rides can be good... I really enjoyed my jaunt up Nebo solo last week, I was able to set my own pace (aside from the morons in cages who can't drive) and spent some of the time cruising and some of the time enjoying the twists and turns. Was only a short run but fun all the same  :thumb:

Yeah I used to ride mainly alone before I found other people to ride with, but there's always that small part of you that thinks, what if I come off over a guard rail and no-one sees it happen? Unlikely I know but I'm a worrier haha.
...

peteGS

Haha yeah I know what you mean... having said that I'm going to say something that may sound sexist but is just an observation based on experience... you're female so you worry unnecessarily :icon_razz:

I must have a naughty place then cuz I worry about that also haha. A good thing they have on SEQR is the solo riders section where you put down your intentions and sign in at the end of your ride to say you're ok.

peteGS

Hahahaha actually I must admit I don't push it at all when on a solo ride... that reason does sit in the back of my head at times...  :embarassed:

I do like the solo ride idea in SEQR though.

yeah I built that section because I have a friend who often rides solo and wanted him to be able to log his ride so that if anything went wrong I had an idea of where he was going, timings etc, that way we could do something positive if anything went wrong.  I also sometimes liked to take the long way to work, so to log in and out was handy for my wife to have peace of mind.

Biggest Zen moment of my life was a lone ride up to the Pit Stop Cafe one grey day after a rainy morning. Minimal traffic, just the sound of my bike and my mind on the task at hand.. Bliss

AussieChick

That's actually a very clever idea! The bit about logging solo rides online...My Brother lives with me and he's an unemployed bum so I always tell him where I'm going and when to expect me back  :thumb: plus I always ride with my phone in my jacket pocket in the event that I crash and can still reach it, but who knows how bad I might injure myself one day, and sometimes it's that first period of time after a crash that's critical...

I actually upgraded my mobile to a Windows Phone so that I could easily monitor the site remotely ie not from a PC and that section of the forum is one that I make sure I receive alerts from so I know always if someone is going for a solo ride.  The other Admin ChicFlutterBy also monitors the site constantly from her iPhone so we are both on top of things like that section.  Just means I see it, its in the back of my mind and I check in.  Then if necessary I can use the ICE details if it runs over time too much to ensure everything is okay.  We have too look after our community and this I felt was a good way.

It is a good idea and I'm not going to join brc
