Looking for gauge faceplate and bucket. I don't need the speedometer or tach, just the metal faceplate that goes around them that has the colored idiot lights built in and bolts to the top triple, and then bigger black part they sit in. I'd like to find just those two pieces, but I know the tachometer doesn't really like to come out because of the way the trip odometer knob is. If you have one with a tach that's close to the miles mine has I could just swap them. Mine's around 14-15k somewhere. I don't mind if you NEATLY cut the faceplate and gently bend it to get the tach out so I can slide mine in and jbweld/bondo and repaint it. Let me know what you have! Not looking to spend a ton so I'm find with something that may be a little scratched up, and has the "oil" and "reserve" markings worn off. Thanks.

Hey Josh,

Not to be a ball buster but last I checked the tachometer doesn't have the trip odometer knob in it and I don't think it says reserve on the faceplate, you been drinking tonight?   ;)

Are you trying to replace a wrecked piece?  I have a gauge face plate I used for an experiment.  It was a bent one Jared gave me that I straightened out the best I could but it is not perfectly straight.  I was trying to find a fix for the indicator lenses that always seem to pop out.  I drilled and tapped the holes and fitted in some threaded gems from an electronics store.  The piece was painted to match Kay's bike but I messed up the paint when I tapped the holes.  For future reference I now know to tap the holes before you paint   ;)  Kay didn't show much interest in the painted piece so I never test fitted the gauges to see if the jewels were too tall.  Let me know if this piece is of any use to you and I'll try test fitting some gauges.  I don't have the black plastic bucket though.  If you are looking for a decent stock piece try PM-ing Jared, he had a couple others when I was down there.

Before the holes were tapped (and the paint damaged...)

My original prototype with the gems installed

I'm not sure that I know Jared, where do I find him at?

I wasn't drinking, but I was up way too late, especially considering I was a couple hours short of sleep from the night before. No reserve, but my tach does have a trip odometer. You must just call it something different. I have the normal odometer up top that keeps the total miles, then the smaller one that the black knob attaches to that you can reset whenever you wish.

Anyway, nothing's broken, I just don't want to mess with my only one in case I mess up. I hate how far the gauges stick up now that I have clipons on my bike. I want to flatten out the angle that the gauges stick up, and cut the black bucket to match since it's made to fit the current angle. You can see how much they stick up in this picture.

You could always try PM'ing him.

heh...

It's your speedometer that has your trip meter and knob...

I'll poke my head in the garage tomorrow.... The bucket...you'll probably just want to get one from your dealer or online parts place...

If it doesn't have to be pretty I think I have one you could use.
When the 2nd Amendment is lost, the rest will soon follow.

I just felt like ripping you a little.  I call the gauge with the odometers in it a speedometer, not tach   ;)  How'd your Harbor Freight trip go?

Haha, fine, I'll call it the speedo too then.

I'm not too worried about scratches. I don't really want to pay for a new part for something I'm going to be cutting, but if you have any old ones I'd definitely be interested

The trip to Harbor Freight went pretty awesome for my basement, not so much for my bank account. I used a couple of the coupons in that ad you sent me, plus there were 3 different ads floating around the store, and someone left a coupon book in my cart. I ended up spending $200, but I brought home $300 worth of stuff. I got the paint gun for $20, plus they had another one on the clearance shelf for $30 so I grabbed that. It was taped shut as the box was somewhat destroyed, so I didn't look at it before I bought it, but the only thing wrong with it was that it was missing the end cap that screws on where the paint actually comes out. The one with the two nubs that you turn depending on whether you want a vertical or horizontal paint strip. I can use the one I have on both guns though. I got one of their cheap motorcycle stands for $30. It's not the sturdiest thing but you can't complain for $30. Grabbed a couple cheap air tools. I may keep an eye out and see when some of those tire changing stands go on sale since you have to buy both parts. Overall it was pretty good, but I'll give it a while before I'll feel safe going back there. I made up for it by stopping at Sur La Table on the way home so my wife could get some new kitchen stuff.
