Painting engine guards

I have some engine guards that are scratched up.  I want to sand them down and repaint ... what kind of paint should I use?

Sorry if this topic has come up before.  If it has and there's another thread on it that someone can point me to I'd appreciate it...

I would hit them with high heat flat black spray paint. $4 at autozone. I panted my muffler and many bolts with it. Works good
