I own a 1991 GS500E and I decided to take it out for the first day of riding season. Being the tard I am, I hadn't chardged the  battery all winter and when I stopped to get gas , it wouldn't start back up. A gentleman had stopped to give me a jump start, but I didn't want him to do that because his huge truck could have easily fried my bike. So another gentleman offered to give me a jump from his motorcycle. The only problem was when he went to hook it up to his bike, he hooked it up to the wrong terminals. It got REALLY hot and and I noticed it after about 3 seconds luckily beofre it exploded. I went and bought a new battery and it won't start. I know there has got to be other damage, does anyone have any idea how bad I am into it?

I just want to make sure the little things didn't get overlooked; Is the new battery charged? When I buy mine I always have to charge them first.

Yeah, after this happened, I bought a new battery and had the place that I bought it from charge it up. Unless they screwed it up and didn't charge it right. They were saying something about it being a blown fuse. I'm not getting any power at all.

Fuse is 20A, and there is a possibilty the reg/rect and ignition module might have fried.

I got it. I didn't realize that I was replacing the spare that was there...  Thanks for the help guys. Thank god it was just a blown fuse and not something that would cost me a kajillion dollars.

How's about an 84' Pulsar NX with the P.O.S. E16S engine.

That guy wouldn't have fried your bike.  You could hook your bike up to a battery the size of a house if you want.  As long as it's a 12 volt battery your starter will only draw the amperage it needs.

Nice job on the fuse.  Glad to hear it worked out.   :thumb:
