How much do you think I could get for it? I know that bikes are valued higher by their owners but I'm hoping to break close to even if I sell. The front end swap, suspension, wheels etc were all quite pricey to perform...

I really need to get a new motor for my car (e30 BMW 318i) ...as the timing chain maintenance is practically the same cost of a swap.

Sell the FE as if it came from a Gixxer.  You will make more on that than the whole bike.  I have already thought about this all, lol.

yeah i hate to say it but parting it out will net you way more then selling it as a GS500 anyone looking at it for a bike wont know the difference from yours to another gs500 until you tell them what you did to it.  they will also want to know why your gs is 1500 more then the one down the road.  mods for the most part dont do anything other then cost the owner more money.  if you want anywhere close to what you spent take the time and part out or sell to a twinner that has watched the build and will enjoy the bike to its fullest.  good luck what ever way you go.

yea the crap things about partout's though... you will always have leftovers that no one will buy and you just chuck into the trash.

i'll debate a bit more but I don't ride it as often as I should. A flat tire, 4" deep potholes, new england drivers don't really help

The way to avoid this is to pull off the valuable parts that you'll make the money on, and sell them separately. Then sell the frame and everything else as one item. Just keep a couple of parts on it that make it worth someone else dealing with the odds n ends. You'll probably make a few bucks less, but it'll save you time and aggravation.
