Hey guys, newb here. Just bought a 95 GS and joined the board! Needless to say I might be hitting up Buddha for a carb clean :( cheers!

Any pictures?

I always recommend pulling your carbs off and giving them a good cleaning before you think your bike has any real problems. Cleaning them out well will solve about 95% of the problems this bike has when people buy it used. Hope you enjoy it.

you say you just bought a GS? LIAR! not without pics you didnt. and yea, you should try cleaning your own carbs before sendin them to Buddha. not to say Buddha is bad, just sayin its pretty easy to clean carbs on your own, and you could save time and money doing em yourself.  run up to the auto store and get some carb cleaner for like ~ 5 bucks

The mascot of the GS500.. The creature that's got the biggest ugliest a$$ of them all.
A wombat. It's got a big ugly a$$ too.

Here's one for now!  :D

Bike has 6800 miles on it. Just ordered some turn signals for it to clean it up alil. Bought a vance and hines pipe... It needs some kinks worked out like carbs and minor oil leaks (tach cable etc).

Little help with the pic   ;)

I've never cleaned my carbs - re-jet yes - but that's it. Runs fine since 2006 when I bought it.  1995 model btw.

I don't know, bought it from a guy who had a dealer's license - he may have cleaned them to sell it - an 11 yr old bike with just under 4000 miles so it must've done some sitting.

Yeah my bike has some small oil leaks going on. Probably have to replace a few seals. Does anyone know where the commonly leak from? right now I know it's leaking from the tach cable and a cover on the back of the head.

cover on the back of the head.

It would be better to get a picture or look at microfiche but that may be coming from the cam chain tensioner.

Hey..me too
Here's a snap taken by my son of me riding home on my shiny new GS500F..such a sweet machine.
At the time of this pic being taken she had a whole 22kms on her.

Back in my day motorcyclists were tougher. We used to put a little bit of petrol in our beer, and light up our wee.

I don't mind the color for right now. Especially since there's older CBRs and junk running around with like purple and hot yellow lame graphics. I need to straighten up the mechanical stuff first fellas.  I mean I did buy the bike for $1000 I wasn't expecting to get an aesthetically pleasing Triumph Daytona 675 for that cost. The bike isn't even tagged or insured yet! Give me time!

BaltimoreGS

Don't worry about the color critics, congats on your first bike!
