Heading down to the hat store in the morning after class.  Hopefully, I'll get my suit back from the tailor tomorrow too and wear it out to the jazz club.
I hit a jackpot today.  Browsing through a pawn shop, a watch caught my eye.  Shopkeep told me it was a fake Rolex.  I take a look, water stays beaded on the surface 'glass', smooth second hand movement and and a barely discernable etched coronet at the 6 mark.  Nope, thatun aint fake. He tells me that it's fake because it doesn't have the hologram on the back, because surely no one would ever pull a sticker off their watch  :cookoo:  He tells me he paid 200 for it, I offer 400, drive about 4 miles to a jeweler and he offers me 800 for it on the spot.  That was an easy 400 bucks :thumb:

please email your magic genie to me. ;) nice find !

What I need to find is the fuchin low watt bulb that desperate enough for $$$ that they sold a $1400+ watch for $200.
I toyed with keeping it for a moment, but the datejusts  don't really do it for me.  I really want a yachtmaster, I just can't justify the $3k+ for a used one right now..  I went to look at one advertised on craigslist for 2k, he claimed to have CoA etc.  it was all printed on a laser printer and the watch was a mediocre knock off at best.  He'll trick someone, not me.

i had a damned good copy, was 1 gram off of a true submarinter weight, 1 beat off of the count, size was spot on, AND ( after i pulled out my jewelry stamps it had a serial number in teh proper location, ( was an automatic japanese movt) my friends child destroyed the band for second time, then i dropped it at work, and shattered the crystal, so i pulled the movt. and am going to transplant it into a trashed omega constellation body that was given to me well the body is perfect, but the movement was toast

Finally got the suit back from tailoring.  I'll probably wear it tomorrow night, pretty sure I've got plans ;)
I picked up another Nat Nast sport shirt while I was at Saks, suit and shirt in pic.

Those old Stetsons are something else.  I'm gonna have to fight one of my uncles over my grandfathers at some point, lol.
I'll post shoe pics tomorrow, absolute Italian bliss.
The Indy hat is a pretty nice quality hat overall, lined, leather sweatband, etc.  I'm going to pop the tacky little pin off the band and it'll be good to go.

Note: The shirt is a Nat Nast, each panel is a separate piece of clothe.  It makes for a very interesting sport shirt, but still somewhat conservative with the subdued colors.  The valet is some Italian manufacture, my tailor crapped when I showed it to him and said it was 500-600 retail, I paid 10 at an estate auction.

I think I'm gonna buy a dinosaur

I've got a piece of artwork being evaluated by them that is potentially worth quite a bit and I think they're going to make an offer on it once done evaluating.  I'm pretty sure I want to squeeze that in as part of a cash/trade for my piece.

Heh if it werent for SENTIMENTAL value. ive got a picasso sketch that was my mothers. for AGES. less than 8 by 10 roughly.BUT its mine until i die

Wow, that's pretty neat!  If it's an actual sketch, it's worth some serious bank.  Still worth a good chunk of change even if it's a print.  I can understand not wanting to get rid of it though.

I'm still debating whether I want to get rid of the piece I'm having evaluated.  It'll really all come down to what it's worth.  If it ends up being worth 15k+ I'll probably sell it and dump some of that into my truck and the rest into savings.  It's going to be difficult to put a price on it though, no original work by the artist has ever been publicly sold, but the library of congress has catalogued and restored several pieces.
I picked up some original copper plate Antonio Zatta north and south hemisphere maps for 5 each that I'm trying to sell as well.  Zatta was pretty much THE mapmaker of the late 18th century and the southern hemisphere map shows Cook's voyage.  They're worth a couple hundred a piece and I've got 'em listed on a few venues.  Until they sell, they'll hang on my wall.

I've also picked up a set of watercolors and a large oil painting by Ken Abendana Spencer.  I'm keeping the oil, but the watercolors are on the chopping block.  Another difficult to price item, he's dead, exhibited in several museums (Real museums) but his work is very rarely offered for sale.  He has quite the fanbase.  This auction is GROSSLY negligent to the consigners, but I've gotten all of this great art for next to nothing.

spc

Jackpot! I have a buyer at 2k for the Spencer paintings.  75 total investment......... :icon_twisted:
I'm pretty sure I'm just going to leave the maps on my wall for now, I kinda like em.

Oh yeah, picked up an 1830 print of a reference text still used today for ancient arms and armour identification.  I paid very little and am negotiating a trade for a civil war era cavalry sabre.
