What type of bulb is that tiny secondary bulb in the headlight of the F model? I'm trying to get a good LED bulb for it but I can't find what type of bulb it is, all the suzuki parts sites say is the suzuki code and that it's 12V 5W.

I have been trying to find a brighter alternative for that light since I bought the bike.

it's like a 168 or something. It should be written on the bulb. Go compare it at the parts house. I hear superbrightleds has plug and play bulbs for that style.

Its a 501 bulb, it's capless, only two metal wiry contacts folded either side of the whole glass bulb.

You can get it out by reaching over or under the fairing and then you just pull it out (its not really locked in). You might need to carefully use a plair of pliers to remove the old one ;)

that website has a compatable bulb with 15 smd leds, should be very bright, its $20 but seems maybe worth it to get a white bright bulb.

If you just want it to be white for looks, but it won't add anything at all to seeing at night.

I know, the light output of the brightest bulb I could find was only 90 lumens. But the little yellow bulb is very ugly under my very white and bright HID light.

Hmm I guess it probably would be ugly. I like HID yellow foglights and white headlights together, but imagining a yellow parking light and HID headlight together doesn't sound quite as nice :P

I heard someone talking about they put in a color changing LED; that might be interesting if I didn't get pulled over.

Thanks guys. I just bought this bad boy

http://www.amazon.com/Wedge-bulbs-Light-Lumen-1415WH/dp/B002QA386A

Supposedly the color is around 4,500 kelvin which is very white and should come pretty close to my 5,000 kelvin HID, and the light output claim is 105 lumens which I highly doubt. I'll let you know how this bulb looks when it comes in.

Here is the link... http://www.oznium.com/prewired-superflux

I also used the same led and made myself some daytime running lights... (epoxy is your friend)

And then I used these led's and made mirror stem turn indicators (I am forever leaving the turn signals on) http://www.oznium.com/prewired-leds
